Confirmed Liverpool line-up to face Chelsea: A huge call by Klopp
Liverpool are a force to reckon with at the moment after winning all six league games of the season. The Reds romped to a 3-0 victory against Southampton last week and with Chelsea’s stalemate against the Hammers, Klopp’s men are now on top of the table.
The Merseyside club are now set to face another unbeaten team in the form of Chelsea in the EFL Cup. Sarri’s men have won all of their games except the recent one against West Ham United. They have also looked disciplined at the back and organised when moving forward.
The Italian has quickly instilled his philosophy into the side and Chelsea are now playing an expansive style of football. Klopp has to approach this game with caution as the famed Sarri-ball is known to trouble the opposition on the counter.
However, the Reds are masters of counter-attack themselves. As mentioned earlier, Chelsea are well-drilled at the back but their full-backs often tend to push high up in search of assists and goals. This should provide Liverpool’s wide forwards with ample space to charge on the flanks.
Chelsea defend very compactly in the middle, which means it could be hard for Liverpool to get going in that area. The Reds have shown that their strength lies on the flanks and Klopp should exploit the wide areas.
Liverpool’s midfield needs to be dominant as well, given that Chelsea are cohesive and fluid in the middle of the park. The Reds should be careful with their pressing and should not get caught in the spaces. The Blues possess players who are quick in the final third and Liverpool’s defence needs to be focused.
