Cristiano Ronaldo vows to return soon as he shares update on injury

Cristiano Ronaldo provided an update on his injury as he misses out on Juventus’ latest game

Prior to the international break, during Juventus’ clash against AC Milan, Cristiano Ronaldo was taken off the pitch by Maurizio Sarri in a shocking substitution.

He was replaced in the 55th minute by Paulo Dybala as he headed straight for the dressing room after leaving the pitch.

In the aftermath of Sarri’s row with Ronaldo on the Juventus touchline, there has been speculation over their relationship.

The Portuguese also left the stadium before the match had finished as Dybala put in a late winner (h/t Guardian).

Juventus boss Sarri, however, cited a knee injury following his decision during Juve’s last Serie A outing. In the post match conference, the Italian manager said (h/t Metro):

“We must thank Ronaldo, because he made a sacrifice to be there tonight in a difficult situation. He did everything possible to play, but I saw he was not well and thought it best to take him off.”

However, Ronaldo looked to be fit as he went on to score a hat-trick against Lithuania during the international break.

The talismanic forward went on to play twice for his country during the international break, scoring four times against Lithuania and Luxembourg.

Amidst all the rumours, Ronaldo finally decided to break the silence yesterday after he took to Twitter to post about his comeback.

Ronaldo said he is ‘focused on his recovery’ and vowed to ‘come back soon’ after being left out of the Juventus squad for Saturday’s match against Atalanta.

The speedster did eventually confirm that he had a slight injury, and will be spending some time on the sidelines.

The talismanic forward also admitted he has been playing through injury, despite scoring a hat-trick against Lithuania and one goal against Luxembourg for his country during the international break (h/t Mirror).

The forward’s absence is likely to see Argentines Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuaín paired up front.
