Go For It Hodgson – Crystal Palace Should Boost Their Attack With This £30Million Goal-Scorer From Leicester

Why Crystal Palace Should Sign Leicester City Striker Islam Slimani

Leicester City haven’t executed the same kind of success they displayed in their remarkable 2015/16 Premier League title-winning season, despite retaining Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez in their side.

Last summer, the Foxes signed Algerian striker Islam Slimani in a deal worth £29m from Sporting Lisbon on the final day of the transfer window. But the 29-year-old striker did not regularly feature for the Foxes, starting just 5 games in the entire season.

Most of his appearances were brief and were off the bench as Jamie Vardy, who was instrumental in Leicester’s title success a season ago, kept the Algerian out from the first-team. We are already 11 games into the 2017/18 season and Slimani still finds himself on the bench, with Vardy once again leading the charge for Leicester.

According to Sport Witness, the 29-year-old is extremely frustrated with his situation at the club and wants to move away from the King Power Stadium in search of regular football. The Algerian has scored 4 goals in 3 games in the Carabao Cup, which showcases how effective he can be if given regular starts.

Crystal Palace could certainly use an effective striker like Slimani. They brought in former England boss Roy Hodgson to replace Frank De Boer as the head coach of the Premier League club but the Eagles still can’t seem to get themselves out of the relegation zone, with some of their key players missing. Christian Benteke has been missing from action for most of the season and Hodgson is on the lookout to sign an effective striker in the upcoming January transfer window.

Islam Slimani could just be the right person to help the Eagles get back on their feet as he will provide the much-needed goals, while also making a stronger attempt to bring them back to winning ways. Slimani’s accuracy can be fully utilised when combined with Wilfried Zaha’s pace and power on the pitch – the prospect of which is likely to create a tantalising picture for most Palace fans.

The Ivory Coast international has been having trouble finding the net despite putting in consistently good performances. Slimani could act as a perfect strike partner for Zaha, with Leicester reportedly open to selling the 29-year-old.

Roy Hodgson must go after Slimani in January if he wants to keep his side from getting relegated this season. Although the Foxes have placed a price tag of £30m on the Algerian striker, they could easily settle for something in the range of £25m.
