Crystal Palace signing this 37-goal star in January would boost their spirits going forward

Why Moanes Dabour would be a brilliant signing for Crystal Palace

Back in August 2018, the Daily Mail had claimed that Crystal Palace were interested in signing striker Moanes Dabour, who was then plying his trade for Red Bull Salzburg. However, a deal didn’t materialise and he left Salzburg to join Sevilla this past summer.

After a staggering record of 37 goals and 16 assists for Salzburg last season, Moanes Dabour, 27, looked destined for success at Sevilla. However, the scripts haven’t gone according to the plan for the Israeli forward, who has managed only 12 minutes in the La Liga so far. He has been a regular in the Europa League, though, managing three goals and two assists in five appearances.

Strikers Javier Hernandez and Luuk de Jong have been preferred ahead of Dabour by Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui. Given the situation he finds himself in Seville, Dabour should try leaving the club in January. And Crystal Palace must definitely provide the 27-year-old with an escape route by reviving their interest.

Crystal Palace are enjoying a good season in the Premier League. At the moment, though, Roy Hodgson’s men are finding it difficult to score goals. They have found the back of the net only 14 times in 16 games, with summer signing Jordan Ayew (4) being their top scorer.

The attack is one area Hodgson should improve during the winter transfer window, with none of Wilfried Zaha, Christian Benteke or Andros Townsend living up to their expectations this season. The Eagles need a bonafide goalscorer to help them move up the table and a player of Dabour’s quality would be the perfect fit at Selhurst Park.

Dabour hasn’t played in England before but he has the quality as well as European experience that could help him make an instant impact at Palace.

The Israel international is a quick, creative and versatile player who is an extremely composed finisher in front of goal. 72 goals in 126 appearances across all competitions for Salzburg shows that he has got a knack of scoring goals regularly if given proper chances.

Playing alongside the likes of Ayew, Townsend and Zaha, the Nazareth-born star could be vital in raising the Eagles’ spirits and enhancing their quality going forward. In the video below, one could get a glimpse of Dabour’s style of play and the qualities he could bring to Hodgson’s Palace.

Verdict

With the January window approaching, Crystal Palace must take advantage of Dabour’s situation at Sevilla and get their hands on him before he makes other decisions. All in all, it would be a massive coup for the south Londoners if they revive their interest in the player and sign him next month.
