Crystal Palace opinion: Should the Eagles go for Sasa Kalajdzic?
The Daily Mail has reported that Crystal Palace are in the race for striker Sasa Kalajdzic. The young Austrian centre-forward has been in great form of late. So far this season, the 21-year-old has managed to net six goals and assist a further three.
Yet, it’s his recent form that has seen the Eagles scout him, with the club eyeing a permanent move. The 21-year-old has managed to net five goals in his last five games, making it an incredible return from injury.
However, he has failed to consistently find the net since making his debut a few seasons ago. Last season he managed to score just 7 goals in all competitions, with an injury cutting his season short.
The 21-year-old has tried to become a more consistent striker but has failed to do that over the course of the season. Given Crystal Palace’s struggles in front of goal, they cannot afford to make a move for someone who is still learning.
They need a reliable forward at their disposal. Christian Benteke has only just ended a 17 game goalless streak. Chelsea loanee Michy Batshuayi has made an impact for Crystal Palace but has found himself warming the bench in recent games.
This is because reports have indicated that Chelsea want around £40 million for the Belgian (Sun). That fee may just be out of Crystal Palace’s reach and Hodgson has switched back to the two permanent strikers he does have.
This may cause a few problems for the club, as they have huffed and puffed their way towards survival this season. They need someone who can consistently score goals for them in the Premier League.
Someone to take the pressure off Wilfried Zaha and company, helping the Eagles strive towards a better league position.

Sasa Kalajdzic may be a talented striker but the 21-year-old is not what Crystal Palace need at the moment.
They already have Alexander Sorloth in their team, another untested 23-year-old striker, who has struggled to make an impact. As mentioned above, the Eagles need to look towards reliable goalscorers, which is easier said than done.
