Does This Speed Merchant Actually Have A Future At Arsenal? (Not Walcott)

England international Danny Welbeck made the move to the Emirates from former club Manchester United back in 2014, after being labeled “not good enough” for the Red Devils, by then boss Louis van Gaal. Since joining Arsenal, the striker has barely played 36 Premier League games, scoring 8 times and has been sidelined for long time periods due to various injury problems. This has hampered his growth at the club and he has not been able to retain a regular place in the first team.

The 25 year old forward was unable to make too much of an impact for the Gunners in the previous campaign as well, though he looked good on the ball at times and made a difference to the team’s play with his pace. However, injuries still have been hurting his cause of making an impression for the north Londoners and with Arsene Wenger now looking to add more stars up front to his squad. This could mean that Welbeck’s future at the club could now be in doubts.

The French manager has been in the hunt to sign either Alvaro Morata or Jamie Vardy or both, with reports suggesting that a deal for the latter was on the verge of being completed soon. In either case, it would have meant that his time at the club could be limited, as he would fall down the pecking order to both Olivier Giroud and the new arriving star.

Wenger has looked quite determined to sign new players, after he brought in Granit Xhaka early in the current transfer window and will now look to add more quality players to his current squad. This could push many of the other first choice players from last season on to the bench as well.

Welbeck could also play on the wings, though there is tough battle for places there already. Unless some of the players either leave or are sold, or there is another injury crisis during the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament or next season, chances will be very few for the Englishman.

It will be quite interesting to see how things shape up, as at present there are no offers made for him and there has been no report of any sort of discontent yet. The player is a highly talented star and could be an asset for Arsenal, if he manages to remain fit and gets more chances on a regular basis.

Arsenal ended yet another trophyless season this time around and will want to get back to winning titles soon. Another striker has been the order of the day, unless someone from the current squad steps up and puts in a special performance. Welbeck could be that guy, though his playing time would surely be reduced if there is another star added to the squad this summer.
