De Gea to stay at Manchester United? Cavani to Arsenal? Stones to Chelsea? Monday Transfers Roundup

The 2015 Summer Transfer Window is just over 24 hours to close in England and in the other parts of Europe, it is less than 18 hours to go. With Manchester City and Liverpool done for the transfer window, all eyes are on Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, who are looking to strengthen their squad. Here are some players linked with the club ahead of the important day.

David de Gea:

The summer transfer window started with some uncertainties over the future of Manchester United’s Spanish International David de Gea. Spanish Giants Real Madrid were interested and heavily linked with the shot-stopper when Iker Casillas left Madrid for FC Porto. But Real Madrid ended up signing Espanyol’s Kiko Casilla and made Costa Rica goalie Keylor Navas as their number 1 while De Gea was not even included in the bench for United’s first six competitive matches. Still there were rumours of De Gea moving to United on the transfer day for a fee of 40 million Euros, which Real Madrid are hesitating to pay. But the deal looks unlikely to go through and the future of De Gea looks bleak at Old Trafford.

John Stones:

Just like De Gea, John Stones’ transfer too went throughout the window as the defending Premier League Champions Chelsea wanted to sign the Everton defender. They even submitted a bid four times for the English defender and was rejected by the Toffees on all occasions. Later the defender handed a transfer request which was rejected by the club. With just over 24 hours to go for the deadline and Chelsea’s defence in shambles in the first few matches of the season, Jose Mourinho’s men might prepare a final bid for the youngster which is likely to be rejected again.

Paul Pogba:

Italian midfielder Paul Pogba is one of the best midfielders in the world present and has the potential to become the best in the near future. No wonder why clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona were interested in the Manchester united drop out. The Italian was linked with almost all the big clubs and once again, Chelsea are the favourites to land him. But Juventus, in the past had said that Pogba is not for sale and have rejected Chelsea overtures. With Juve already selling their midfield starlets Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal, it is unlikely that they will let go Pogba to Chelsea, that too on the deadline day.

Charlie Austin:

QPR’s English striker Charlie Austin has been linked with several top clubs including Manchester United and Arsenal. The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a possible to Manchester United after the Red Devils have almost sold their second choice striker Javier Hernandez Chicharito in spite of the poor form of their striker Wayne Rooney. QPR are demanding 15million Euros, which is worthy for a player of Austin’s calibre and United are likely to get the deal done.

Edinson Cavani

So with Benzema all but certain to stay at Real Madrid, Cavani becomes Arsenal’s priority target. And it’s reported that the Gunners are readying a deadline-day bid for the Uruguayan as Wenger searches for a top class striker to his ranks. But it’s highly unlikely that the dea will go through.
