Debuchy Injury Update: Arsenal Star Feared To Be Out For Longer Than Expected

It has been reported that Mathieu Debuchy is feared to be out until Christmas. The Mirror suggests that, Mathieu Debuchy is facing three months out to plunge Arsenal into a defensive injury crisis.

The French International suffered a nasty ankle injury during the 2-2 draw against Manchester City and although Calum Chambers came on to cover for him, it leaves Arsenal without proper defensive re-reinforcements at a crucial point of the season.

Debuchy initially updated on his facebook page that he is will undergo a medical on Monday and that nothing was serious. But reports from Media suggests otherwise.

“Arsene Wenger fears Debuchy will be missing until Christmas after suffering significant ligament damage when he sprained his ankle during Saturday’s draw with Manchester City.”

The Gunners have drawn three consecutive games in the league and with Champions League football around the corner, Arsenal’s failure to sign proper defensive cover has already started to create problems.

19-year old versatile Calum Chambers is the only recognized right back Wenger has at his disposal, which means that there is no cover at center back positions until Debuchy recovers. Chambers, who played the final third of the game against City looked a bit nervous and was not comfortable defending against the likes of Nasri and Silva.

However, he has enough experience at the right back role from his days at Southampton where he was the second choice full back.

With crucial games coming up against Dortmund, Spurs and Chelsea in a fortnight Arsenal fans can just keep their fingers crossed for Debuchy’s recovery.
