Why Derby County should make a move for Ferdi Kadioglu in January
According to Turkish website Fotospor (h/t The Derby Telegraph), Derby County are interested in signing Fenerbahce midfielder Ferdi Kadioglu.
Ferdi Kadioglu, 20, joined Fenerbahce from Dutch side NEC Nijmegen in 2018 and his contract runs out in the summer of 2022.
The Netherlands youth international is yet to make his full league debut for the Turkish side but has impressed with two goals in six substitute appearances so far this season in the Super Lig.
Interestingly, Phillip Cocu was the Fenerbahce manager when the club signed the then 18-year-old on a four-year deal last year.
Derby County, meanwhile, have failed to find any sort of consistency this season whatsoever. The opening half of the season has been disappointing for all concerned with the club.
While Wayne Rooney’s availability to play from January would be a massive boost for Derby, Cocu unquestionably needs a couple of players more to complete his squad for the ongoing campaign. Kieran Dowell has struggled to make an impact since arriving on loan from Everton while Florian Jozefzoon has flattered to deceive on numerous occasions.
The Rams need more quality in the squad to string a sequence of positive results together if they have any hopes of making a dart for the play-offs. A player who can make a difference in the final third would be ideal and that’s why Cocu should plot a January swoop for Ferdi Kadioglu.
Kadioglu has come up the age groups for the Netherlands and is now a regular in the under-21 side. He is yet to start a game for Fenerbahce this season but his contributions off the bench have been noteworthy.
The 20-year-old is a versatile attacker who is capable of adding quality and competition for places at Pride Park.
