Full Time: Leicester City 2-1 Tottenham
Tottenham had to succumb to a 2-1 defeat against Leicester City, making it their third consecutive away defeat. There are several issues Spurs need to deal with in their squad. They seem like a shadow of their former selves as they start every game looking overly defensive and low on confidence.
Spurs started on a weak note and the Foxes were quick to take advantage. Jamie Vardy netted the first goal and then a goal from Riyad Mahrez brutally exposed the many shortcomings in Mauricio Pochettino’s defence. Harry Kane did score a goal eventually but that did nothing to stop Leicester from taking all the 3 points. Let’s take a look at how Tottenham players fared against the Foxes.
Tottenham Player Ratings
Hugo Lloris – 5/10
Lloris looked helpless as both goals went past him and besides that, he had nothing more to do.
Eric Dier – 4/10
Dier was more or less responsible for Vardy’s opener and that error in itself put a massive blot on his performance last night.
Davinson Sanchez – 6.5/10
Sanchez was quite average and wasn’t bad but he failed to make his usual impact on the team.
Jan Vertonghen – 5/10
If Dier allowed Vardy to score, Vertonghen was largely responsible for Mahrez’s goal. He was extremely sloppy and allowed Mahrez to cut in and score the winning goal right before half-time.
Serge Aurier – 6.5/10
Aurier was lucky to escape picking a yellow or even a red card for a terrible tackle in the first-half. Besides that, he put in an average amount of effort to defend and attack.
Moussa Sissoko – 5/10
Sissoko had a chance to score the equaliser but he was denied by Kasper Schmeichel. Although the player moved around relentlessly, he did not add any sort of value to the game and was removed quite early.
Moussa Dembele – 5.5/10
Dembele was not creative on any level and looked far from his best. A player of his calibre is capable of doing a lot better.
Danny Rose – 7.5/10
Rose was one of the very few Spurs players who did fairly well. He was consistent and solid enough to trouble Leicester on several occasions.
Christian Eriksen – 4/10
Eriksen missed what should have been an easy goal from just six yards and that was his only note-worthy moment in the game. He almost seemed invisible on the very few occasions that Spurs looked threatening.
Dele Alli – 5/10
Alli put in a rather disappointing performance against Leicester last night. He was poor on the ball and did nothing to contribute to the attack.
Harry Kane – 7.5/10
Kane desperately looked for chances in the first-half but he was not provided with any. At the end of it, he finally netted the solitary goal for Spurs.

Heung-Min Son – 8/10
Son came on for Sissoko about 10 minutes after half-time and he injected some much-needed pace and creativity into an otherwise dull Tottenham side.
Fernando Llorente – 4/10
Llorente replaced Dembele with about 20 minutes to go, which means he had quite a decent amount of time to make an impact. However, he could not do much and this marks yet another game where he did not score.
Erik Lamela – 7/10
Lamela burst onto the scene in place of Christian Eriksen and was mostly responsible for Kane’s goal.
