Tottenham Player Ratings Vs burnley

Tottenham Hotspur beat Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor on Saturday, to keep their hopes of catching Premier League leaders Chelsea alive.

Eric Dier and Son Heung-min netted second-half goals for Mauricio Pochettino’s second-placed side to earn a hard-fought win against the Clarets. The victory however was marred by injuries to midfielders Victor Wanyama and Harry Winks in the first-half.

With Chelsea losing their game against Crystal Palace, Tottenham closed down the gap at the top to 7 points, with the Blues facing Manchester City this midweek. In what was a great result for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, let’s see how the players fared on the day.

Ratings:

Hugo Lloris – 6/10

The captain was hardly troubled by the Clarets and had a comfortable outing. Looked commanding when collecting crosses in the box.

Eric Dier – 7.5/10

Opened the scoring for Tottenham, scoring his first goal for the club since January 2016. Was solid in defence and in midfield. Did not put a foot wrong.

Toby Alderweireld – 7.5/10

Another expert performance from the Belgian. Stamped his class on the game, nullifying the Burnley attacking threat comfortably. Made it look so effortless.

Jan Vertonghen – 7/10

Accomplished performance alongside his compatriot. Looked solid and dealt comfortably with anything that came in his way.

Kieran Trippier – 5.5/10

Struggled to get into the game against his former side. The right-back looked out of depth on several occasions.

Victor Wanyama – 6.5/10

Was his usual strong and dominant self in the midfield, until his afternoon was cut short due to an injury.

Harry Winks – 6/10

Performed decently well in the middle of the park, until he was taken off due to an injury in the first-half itself.

Ben Davies – 6/10

Was steady at the back for Tottenham, but was not as involved as his team would have liked him to during attacks.

Christian Eriksen – 7.5/10

Was Tottenham’s best attacking outlet on the day. Forced Tom Heaton into a decent save and helped set up the second goal for his team.

Dele Alli – 6.5/10

Ran hard for 90 minutes and made up for an awful miss in the game by creating the second goal which was scored by Son. Not his best game though.

Vincent Janssen – 6/10

Made his first league start since November. Worked hard but was largely isolated up front.

Substitutes

Mousa Dembele – 7/10

Replaced the injured Wanyama in the 43rd minute. Put in an assured display in the middle of the park, as always.

Moussa Sissoko – 4/10

Came on for the injured Harry Winks on the stroke of half time. Another abysmal display from the Frenchman.

Son Heung-Min – 7/10

Came on to replace Janssen in the 72nd minute. Scored a fine goal just minutes after coming on to the pitch.
