“Difference maker”, “Keep him”: Some Tottenham fans in praise of key superstar after 3-1 win vs Aston Villa + Match report

Tottenham vs Aston Villa Report: Tottenham Match Report

A debut goal from Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Kane’s late brace helped Tottenham come from a goal down to beat Aston Villa 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Newly-promoted Aston Villa took a shock lead in the ninth minute when Davinson Sanchez let a long ball from Tyrone Mings bounce through, but it fell kindly to John McGinn who turned inside to leave Danny Rose on the deck, and showed excellent composure before calmly slotting past Hugo Lloris.

After going a goal down, Tottenham pushed for the equaliser as Moussa Sissoko fired a shot wide and Kane had an effort blocked. Kane headed over just before half-time as Villa went into the break 1-0 ahead.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side probed at the Villa defence without really asking too many questions until Christian Eriksen was introduced from the bench, as the goal came indirectly from his involvement.

Eriksen delivered a beautiful cross from the right into the danger area, only for Sanchez to see his attempt heroically saved by Tom Heaton. The ball fell to Ndombele and the midfielder curled an effort into the back of the net.

Eriksen then almost won the game with a free-kick but for an unbelievable save from Heaton low to his right. However, Villa’s resistance came to an end when Kane capitalised on a mistake from Jack Grealish and slammed a left-footed shot past Heaton.
