Disappointing Ntcham, Poor Hendry – The best and the worst rated Celtic players vs Hibernian

Full Time: Hibernian 2-1 Chelsea

Celtic’s Scottish Premiership title celebrations will have to wait for a little longer as they were defeated 2-1 by Hibernian at the Easter Road on Saturday.

Coming into the game needing a win to confirm their title victory, the Hoops were pegged back just a little after the halfway mark in the first period, when Jamie Maclaren slotted home from close range. Substitute Vykintas Slivka made it two for the home team with ten minutes left on the clock, heading home from a Florian Kamberi pass.

Celtic were given a glimmer of hope of salvaging something from the game when substitute Odsonne Edouard pulled a goal back in the 87th minute but the Hibs held on to their lead.

Celtic Player Ratings

Craig Gordon – 5/10

He put Jack Hendry under pressure with a poor pass, leading to the opener for the Hibs and his distribution throughout the game was shoddy. Didn’t have a lot of saves to make.

Jack Hendry – 4/10

The January signing from Dundee had a game to forget at the Easter Road. Lost the ball at the back, leading to the opening goal. Never really looked comfortable.

Dedryck Boyata – 4/10

The Belgian’s inconsistency at the back continues to be an issue for the Bhoys. Looked out of his depth throughout the game and needs to be dropped.

Kristoffer Ajer – 6.5/10

The best out of the lot for Celtic, the youngster was once again the most reliable defender on the field. Held things together and helped his team going forward as well.

Kristoffer Ajer

James Forrest – 5/10

The Scottish winger’s form has been on the downslide for a while now and it was visible against the Hibs. Hardly made any contributions going forward from the right flank.

Scott Brown – 5/10

One of his worst performances of the season. Was given a lot of trouble by Hibernian’s Danny Swanson in the middle of the park. Failed to assert himself like he usually does.

Olivier Ntcham – 4/10

A complete opposite of his brilliant display against Rangers a week ago. The Frenchman struggled against the Hibs midfield and was hauled off at half-time.

Kieran Tierney – 5/10

Another player who endured a day to forget. Tierney had a few good moments going forward but was exposed at the back with the Hibs causing plenty of problems down his side.

Tom Rogic – 5/10

Showed a few neat touches but missed two very good chances to score and bring his team back in the game. Wasn’t strong enough on the ball.

Odsonne Edouard

Callum McGregor – 4.5/10

The Scotland international struggled to get going on Saturday and was a peripheral figure on the pitch for most of the game.

Leigh Griffiths – 5/10

Handed a start ahead of Moussa Dembele, the Scottish striker did very little of note apart from an early shot on target.

Substitutes

Scott Sinclair – 4/10

On for Ntcham at half-time. Anonymous, apart from setting Rogic up for one chance.

Odsonne Edouard – 6/10

Replaced Griffiths in the 65th minute. Scored a fine goal to pull one back for his team late on.

Patrick Roberts – N/A

Came on to replace Forrest with 20 minutes left to play. No impact.
