Do it Poch – 2 Key signings Tottenham desperately need to complete before the deadline including Bundesliga wall

Two signings Tottenham desperately need to complete before the transfer deadline

Tottenham Hotspur are the only Premier League club without a single summer signing so far. However, it isn’t surprising, given the club’s tendency to complete deals late in the window. But Tottenham have delayed a bit too much this time, with the transfer deadline looming large.

Spurs finished 23 points behind Manchester City last season and have consistently secured top-three finishes the two seasons before that. That said, to win trophies, Mauricio Pochettino needs a little financial backing from Daniel Levy in the transfer market.

More than anything else, the club must boost their squad depth. With Pochettino already having a talented side, here are two signings the Argentine manager must desperately complete before the transfer deadline to turn Spurs into title contenders.

Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)

Tottenham have finally made their move for Aston Villa ace Jack Grealish, tabling a £25 million bid, as per The Telegraph.

Tottenham have lacked quality and depth in the creative midfield department, with Pochettino’s men overly-dependent on maestro Christian Eriksen. Although Grealish cannot match Eriksen’s vision and flair, he is a prodigious talent who can play anywhere across the midfield, including the flanks.

Considering Grealish’s quality and potential, Spurs must do everything in their power to sign him from Aston Villa. It would be tremendous for the Villa graduate to link up with Pochettino in north London and help Spurs launch a title push in the 2018/19 campaign.

Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen)

As hard as it is to even consider replacements for Toby Alderweireld, it looks like his exit is on the cards with Daily Mirror claiming that Manchester United have made a final offer for the defender.

Even if Alderweireld doesn’t leave for United, Spurs should remain well-prepared and turn their attention to German international, Jonathan Tah. The Bayer Leverkusen defender would be the perfect signing for Tottenham, slotting in alongside the likes of Juan Foyth, Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez.

Despite only being 22 years of age, Tah has managed to hold his own at the back and he would certainly learn a lot from Vertonghen. The German defender has the qualities Pochettino is known to prefer; he is strong, powerful, excellent in the air and is comfortable with the ball at his feet.

So, without any second thoughts, Spurs must make a late move for Tah. Furthermore, partnering the youngster with Vertonghen could enhance his skills further, making it a win-win situation for all parties involved.
