Arsenal were made to work hard for their point against Manchester City last night and it took some brave individual performances from the Gunners to match the formidable Citizens.
Despite the home advantage and a better start to the game, Arsenal couldn’t find the net and ended up conceding a simple goal to Sergio Aguero. It was Arsenal’s first real test of the season and although they couldn’t manage to win it despite coming from behind to lead the game, there were positives to take from the game.
22-year old Jack Wilshere finally played a game to live up to his potential scoring a delightful goal from an impossible angle and headed an assist to Alexis Sanchez for Arsenal’s second. The England International was lined-up against tough tacklers Fernandinho and Milner, who managed to constantly bully him, but despite that Wilshere had a wonderful game.
Once seen as the Golden boy of Arsene Wenger’s youth project, Wilshere lost his plot with persistent injury problems and playing in out of position for major parts of the season. And with his off field antics during the summer, questions were asked about his future and fans started to have second thoughts about his growth as a player.
However, yesterday’s performance against the big boys, has certainly shut few mouths. Have a look at this Vine clip, where he shows his physicality against “Samir Nasri” to the delight of the fans.
And a fan made video highlighting his performance.
One game doesn’t prove anything, but hey, Wilshere has always got the potential with him. If things turn out good, he could replicate what Ramsey did last season!
