Dream Man United Starting Lineup For Next Season Featuring £86million Duo

Dream Manchester United XI Featuring Alvaro Morata And Ivan Perisic

Manchester United have had a slow start to the summer. Despite being linked with almost every big player from every other club, Jose Mourinho has been able to complete one transfer till date – the £31million capture of Victor Lindelof from SL Benfica.

While deals for Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata have been in the works for a very long time now, no conclusion has been arrived at yet, which has caused some level of concern among the fans. However, the latest on Perisic is that he is ready to force through a £26m move to United. Regarding Morata, the Express have claimed that Madrid are ready to agree a £60m fee for the striker. Both the deals are expected to go through in the coming days and here is how the United line-up could look like, with the new additions of Morata, Perisic and Lindelof.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Jose Mourinho

David De Gea (GK)

Rumours of his transfer to Real Madrid never seem to go away. However, it is largely expected that De Gea will be staying put at the Old Trafford next season and will continue to be the No.1 ahead of Sergio Romero.

Antonio Valencia (RB)

Was one of United’s best players last season. The Ecuadorian seemed to have taken his game up a notch under Jose and cemented his spot at right-back. Should hold onto his place.

Victor Lindelof (CB)

The Swedish international arrives with a great reputation, after having won the Portuguese league title with Benfica. He will be slotted into the starting XI straight away, with the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones pushed out.

Victor Lindelof

Eric Bailly (CB)

The 22-year old was easily the best defender for United last season. Bailly made a great impact in his first season in England and should partner Lindelof at the heart of the defence, if he stays injury-free.

Daley Blind (LB)

The left-back spot remains a big bone of contention for United and Mourinho. Will he give Luke Shaw a regular run in the starting line-up this time around? Doubtful, especially considering his latest injury, leaving Blind as the slightly better option than Matteo Darmian.

Ander Herrera (CM)

The 27-year old really grew into the heartbeat of the United midfield last season. The club’s Player of the Year for 2017, Herrera will keep his place in the two-man midfield pivot.

Paul Pogba (CM)

And the second slot will be taken up by Paul Pogba. Although not the position where one would ideally like him to play, he has shown that he can impact games playing from a slightly deeper role too and will partner Herrera in the middle of the park.

Ivan Perisic (RW)

The Croatian winger has made his name by causing defenders all sort of troubles, cutting in from the right flank and wreaking havoc with his powerful weak foot. If he signs for the Red Devils, he will make the spot his own.

Ivan Perisic

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (CAM)

The Armenian international could not produce his best in his debut campaign for United. But with his ability to create and score, he remains Mourinho’s best bet in a No.10 role ahead of Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata.

Marcus Rashford (LW)

Rashford may have reveled in a centre-forward role, but with a new striker expected to come in, he should be prepared to accept being shunted out on the left wing. He has done well from that position, although it does take away a bit of a goal threat from his game.

Alvaro Morata (ST)

The 24-year old is reportedly close to sealing the move to United. Morata had a great season with Madrid, scoring 20 goals, despite having had to play second-fiddle to Karim Benzema. Could turn out to be United’s No.9 for years to come.
