Dream Manchester City XI for 2018/19 season featuring £50m midfield target

Dream Manchester City Line-up For 2018/19 Season

Manchester City have won this season’s Premier League title in sumptuous style and can now chase further records in their remaining games. They enjoyed another big weekend at West Ham and will be looking to crush Huddersfield in their next game.

City are on 93 points at the moment and can set a new record by beating Chelsea’s record 95 points in the 2004-05 season. With three games remaining, there is also a high possibility of Pep Guardiola’s team getting past the 100-point mark for the first time in the Premier League.

Guardiola will be aiming to smash records this season but has to set his sights to improve his team further in order to retain the title. He is a manager who never believes in complacency and would never sit smiling on his current laurels.

While improving and evolving has been Guardiola’s formula that has seen him achieve such great heights in his career, here we bring you the dream Manchester City line-up for next season.

Manchester City Dream XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Pep Guardiola

Ederson (GK)

What a signing Ederson has proved to be for Manchester City! The Brazilian has been the perfect goalkeeper with ball-playing abilities Guardiola wanted. He has been a mighty presence in goal this season.

Kyle Walker (RB)

Eyebrows were raised when City paid over the odds to sign Kyle Walker from Spurs. However, Walker has justified his price tag and has improved the defensive side of his game to a different level under Guardiola. A definite starter next season.

Nicolas Otamendi (CB)

Otamendi has improved leaps and bounds under Guardiola. The Argentine’s presence has been the difference as he has kept the best of attackers at bay. His role in City’s title-winning season just cannot be ignored.

Nicolas Otamendi and Aymeric Laporte

Aymeric Laporte (CB)

Since joining from Athletic Bilbao, Laporte has shuttled between central defence and left-back. He is one of the sought-after young defenders and would take time to adapt to the demands of the Premier League.

Benjamin Mendy (LB)

The Frenchman was injured when he arrived last summer from AS Monaco before suffering cruciate ligament damage in his knee in September. He has returned to the first-team squad but next season would be decisive for Mendy.

Fred (CDM)

Fernandinho has been colossal in City’s title-winning campaign but has entered the twilight of his career. As per reports, City are interested in a £50m move for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred, who is a similar type of player to Fernandinho and could be used in rotation with the veteran Brazilian.

Kevin De Bruyne (RCM)

A complete midfielder, De Bruyne has lighted up the Premier League with his dazzling displays. He is a player who is thriving immensely under Guardiola, shuttling with ease and poise between central midfield and the attack.

Jorginho (LCM)

City will not stop splashing the cash after storming their way to the Premier League this season and as per reports, Guardiola is planning to bring Jorginho to the Etihad from Napoli this summer. One of the hottest midfield prospects, Jorginho is a brilliant passer and dictates the tempo of the game.

Raheem Sterling (RW)

Sterling has been a revitalised player under the guidance of Guardiola. Having performed brilliantly throughout the season, the 23-year-old will look to improve and enhance his finishing skills next campaign.

Leroy Sane

Leroy Sane (LW)

The German hotshot has been a treat to watch at City. His blistering pace and agility make him capable of beating any player in the game. Sane ticks all the boxes, making him a sure starter on the left-wing next season.

Sergio Aguero (ST)

It is difficult to move on from Sergio Aguero as he is one of the deadliest strikers in Europe. Despite injury issues, the Argentine is City’s first-choice striker and that is not going to change next term.
