Dream Tottenham Line-Up To Play Next Season Featuring This £30m Winger

A Dream Tottenham Lineup Featuring Bayern Munich Star Douglas Costa

Tottenham Hotspur are in the race to sign Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Brazilian international is growing unhappy at the Allianz Arena, due to the lack of game time that he has been afforded to him under the new regime of Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian tactician has preferred to play ageing duo Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben this season.

Injuries haven’t helped Costa’s cause this season either, restricting him to just 18 starts so far. Costa has made 31 appearances in total this season, scoring 7 goals and setting up 9 more in the process. The report also claims that the 26-year old could cost Spurs £30 million.

He signed for the German outfit for £21 million back in 2015 in Shakhtar Donetsk, but despite being considered as a first-team addition, he has struggled this season under Ancelotti. Speaking to the media, he said:

“I speak to the club often. We talk about my situation, if I’ll stay here or if I have to find another team to play for. I’m not always that happy here. But soon we will find a situation.”

If Tottenham are successful in their attempt to sign the 26-year old winger, it will be a huge statement of intent from the club that is growing leaps and bounds under Mauricio Pochettino. In case Costa ends up moving to the North London club, here is how they would line up with the star man:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Defence

Hugo Lloris has been excellent for the Lilywhites this term and will captain the team next season as well.

Full-backs Kyle Walker and Danny Rose are by some distance the best in the league. They are a huge asset to Pochettino and Tottenham and will keep their slots in the backline.

Toby Alderweireld has been the best defender in the league and the fact that Tottenham have the best defensive record in the league shows why. The Belgian will take his rightful spot in the heart of the defence.

Partnering him at the back will be compatriot Jan Vertonghen. The two have struck up an excellent partnership over the past two years and it should continue for the foreseeable future.

Midfield

Victor Wanyama has been a huge hit since his arrival at White Hart Lane last summer. Having established himself as a key player, the Kenyan international will occupy one of the two midfield pivots, ahead of Eric Dier.

He will be partnered by Mousa Dembele, who has had his best season with Tottenham since moving from Fulham in August 2012.

Attack

On the right-flank, the excellent Christian Eriksen will continue in the line-up. The Danish international has been one of the best creative midfielders in the league this season having set up 12 goals and scoring 7 himself.

The No.10 role will be taken up by the midfield prodigy Dele Alli. The 20-year old has been scoring for fun this term, having netted 19 times already across all competitions and stands a great chance of winning the PFA Young Player of The Year award once again.

The left-wing will be taken up by Douglas Costa if he arrives in the summer. He will replace Son Heung-Min, who has had a good season so far. The South Korean international isn’t a natural wide player but has performed admirably. However, if the Brazilian comes in, Son will have to make do with being rotated.

Spearheading the attack will be Harry Kane. The Englishman has developed into one of the finest marksmen across Europe and has scored more than 20 goals in his third season running.
