Drinkwater Out, King In: Strongest 4-4-2 Leicester City Line-up To Face Sunderland

Leicester City
Leicester Will Hope To Continue Their Winning Run Against Sunderland

Predicted Leicester City Lineup To Face Sunderland

Leicester City will look to continue their winning run under new manager Craig Shakespeare when they welcome bottom feeders Sunderland to the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Foxes are on a high, having won all of their last four league fixtures and will come into the game on the back of a comfortable 2-0 win over Stoke City on Saturday. Leicester are sitting pretty at 13th position in the league table, six points away from the relegation zone and will be hoping to inch further towards the upper half of the table with a win over the Black Cats.

The last time the two teams met, David Moyes’ men got the better of the English champions, beating them 2-1 at the Stadium of Light and Shakespeare will be keen on avoiding a similar result on Wednesday.

Team News

Captain Wes Morgan and midfielder Nampalys Mendy are close to a return and will be assessed on a day-to-day basis, while Marc Albrighton may also be available after missing out against stoke due to a bout of flu. Molla Wague remains the only long-term absentee for Leicester.

Probable Leicester City Playing XI

Formation: 4-4-2

Manager: Craig Shakespeare

Kasper Schmeichel (GK)

The Danish international has saved Leicester with his goal-keeping on quite a few occasions this season. He is the unequivocal choice between the sticks ahead of Ron-Robert Zieler.

Danny Simpson (RB)

At right-back, it will be the ever-present Danny Simpson. The former Newcastle man is a constant figure in the line up for the Foxes and we don’t expect that to change.

Robert Huth (CB)

In the heart of the defence, it will be veteran defender Robert Huth. The 33-year old is a mainstay for Leicester and with Wes Morgan doubtful, he will be leading the defence.

Yohan Benalouane (CB)

And partnering Huth at the back will be Yohan Benalouane. The Tunisian has looked solid since coming into the line-up for the last two league games and will keep his place in the line-up.

Christian Fuchs (LB)

On the left-hand side of the defence will be the experienced Christian Fuchs. The Austrian had a good game against Stoke on Saturday. Expect more of the same against the Black Cats.

Riyad Mahrez (RM)

On the right-hand side of the midfield, it will be the brilliant Riyad Mahrez. The 26-year old Algerian is slowly getting back to his best and will cause all sorts of problems to a leaky Sunderland defence.

Andy King (CM)

In the middle of the park we could be in for a change as we might see Andy King come into the line-up in place of Danny Drinkwater, who has been nursing a hip injury. Danny might be rested.

Wilfred Ndidi (CM)

Alongside King, it will be the 20-year old Wilfred Ndidi. The young midfielder is growing in confidence with each passing game and will be on a high after the stunning goal he scored against Stoke.

Demarai Gray (LM)

With Albrighton’s condition still unclear, we may well see an extended run in the playing XI for Demarai Gray. The England youth international had a great game against Stoke over the weekend and will look to build on that performance.

Shinji Okazaki (CF)

At the top, Shinji Okazaki will continue to operate as the second striker, keeping out the likes of Islam Slimani and Leonardo Ulloa, owing to his all-round contribution.

Jamie Vardy (ST)

And just ahead of Okazaki will be English striker Jamie Vardy. The star striker has found his goal-scoring boots again and looks to have hit a hot streak, having scored 5 in his last 6 games for Leicester. Will look to add more to his tally against a porous Sunderland defence.
