PSG 2-1 Liverpool: Reds on the verge of UCL exit after frustrating loss
Liverpool lost 2-1 to Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc Des Princes in what proved to be an enthralling encounter between two of Europe’s biggest teams. The Reds have now lost all three of their European away games this season and are on the brink of an exit from the group stages.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were second best for the whole of the first half and failed to threaten Gianluigi Buffon’s goal. Paris Saint-Germain looked dangerous and won all the second balls as the front three of Edinson Cavani, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe linked up in stylish fashion.
Juan Bernat opened the scoring for Thomas Tuchel’s side after a scuffed Virgil Van Dijk clearance fell right at his legs. Neymar then added a second to send the Reds two goals down before the second half.
Fortunately for Liverpool, James Milner was on hand to slot home from the spot after Sadio Mane was brought down inside the area. The referee had initially waved away the appeals only for the fourth official to intervene and give it Liverpool’s way.
The Reds looked a lot alive in the second half and dominated possession as well but once again failed to create any sort of clear-cut chances. Liverpool’s front three of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were all playing in second gear throughout the game and barely showed any conviction.
The Parisiens also came out on top in the midfield battle and Marco Verratti saw a lot of the ball, effortlessly distributing it to make things tick. Liverpool were outplayed in the middle of the park and that eventually resulted in their downfall. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker bailed out the Reds on a countless number of occasions as well and was surely their best player on the night.
Klopp’s men are now in third place on the table and have to pick up a win in their final home game against Napoli by scoring at least 2 goals without reply or they could see themselves drop to the Europa League.
Here’s how some Liverpool fans reacted after the loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
Embarassing performance again.
No creativity in midfield.
Front 3 need to be more clinical.
Start shaqiri.
Fabinho should of started.
Only good player was Milner.
Bench Henderson.
What was the point in signing Keita and Fabinho?
Now we have to beat Napoli at Anfield.

It was pretty obvious from the start. Non-existent midfield.

if that midfield plays again what the fuck was the point of spending that much money?

There are results and there is the way we play.
We’ve played like shit all season.
Now the results aren’t even here.
Henderson – Gini-Milner ALWAYS got us into shit performances. ZERO creativity.
Shame on Klopp for bringing in Keita and Shaqiri at the 75th minute.— Shingeki no Liverpool 雨 🍵 (@90nokodomo) November 28, 2018
We lost all 3 away Games ffs No creativity at all with that shite midfield.

I miss Steven Gerrard.. obviously you can’t start the game with 3 Midfielder that basically plays the same football, no creativity, skill nor pace… Hendo passing the fucken ball backwards ever chance he gets.

The team set-up was wrong.. We went defensive with the lineup and that gave psg courage and at the same time negative mondset to our team… That midfield had noo creativity att all!!! Never start the midfield of Wijnaldum, Milner and Henderson again
