Who Is This English Left Back That Tottenham And Arsenal Are Trying To Sign – Everything You Need To Know

Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly in the chase for one of Fulham’s brightest players, Ryan Sessegnon. The 16-year-old, who primarily plays as a left-back, is touted to be one of the best in the side and is even said to be on the verge of eclipsing Gareth Bale, should he live up to the potential.

Sessegnon has always been part of the Fulham setup and even his brother Steven is part of the team and the defender did earn a lot of praise for his performance in the EFL Cup against Leyton Orient and even performed incredibly well in the 1-1 draw against Leeds United.

The youngster only made his debut against Orient and is said to become a regular member of the Fulham team. Sessegnon, as stated, plays mostly as a left-back but the youngster can be pushed up a little and like most full-backs, he too can play as a left midfielder.

The 16-year-old though is a proper defender and isn’t known for a lot of wing play but Tottenham and Arsenal are both after the Englishman and it was reported that Tottenham had even lodged a cheeky £3 million bid to bring the talented defender to White Hart Lane but Fulham flatly refused to let go of the defender as they want a lot more for Sessegnon.

Arsenal were also in the running to sign him in January 2016 but failed to sign the defender as Fulham were not willing to let him go and for good measure, it seems.

It isn’t just for Fulham that the defender has been doing well, the youngster has also been part of the England U16 and U17 teams and his talent has seen him also become the second youngster player to ever represent Fulham according to various media reports.

Playing in the Championship might not be the same as playing in the Premier League, a lot of players seem to struggle when moving up a level in English football. The 16-year-old does seem to be a player for the future at the moment with Tottenham already having a number of quality players in the left-back position.

The English defender would probably be sent back on loan to Fulham should he sign for Arsenal or Tottenham simply because he seems to be too good to keep on the bench. The 16-year-old seems set to become a regular member of the Fulham team this season and he might not want to move to a club where he sits on the bench or is shunted to the youth team.

Arsenal and Tottenham both seem like great options for the youngster but Sessegnon has to ensure that he does play more games this season as that is the only way to move forward for him and for the side he does move to.
