Everton beating Newcastle United to sign this 28-year-old Algerian ace would be a clever move by Silva

Why Everton should go all out for Yacine Brahimi in January

According to a report from O’Jogo, Everton are one of the few Premier League clubs interested in making a move for FC Porto star Yacine Brahimi. West Ham and Newcastle United are the other Premier League clubs vying for the FC Porto ace’s signature, adds the report.

Yacine Brahimi, 28, is approaching the final six months of his contract at Porto and he’ll be free to speak to foreign sides about a free summer transfer in January.

The Algerian international scored 12 goals and set up 10 last season, inspiring Porto to their first league title in five years, and as he is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, the Portuguese champions might look to cash in on him in January.

Everton should look to beat the likes of West Ham and Newcastle United for the Algerian’s signature after a lukewarm start to the season under new manager Marco Silva.

The Portuguese gaffer has pumped in a lot of positivity at the Goodison Park, which has seen Everton play an entertaining brand of football so far this campaign.

The Toffees brought in the likes of Richarlison and Bernard in the summer, with both performing well so far this season.

Both the Brazilians have added flair and creativity to Everton’s play in the final third, but Silva’s interest in Brahimi suggests that the Portuguese tactician is aiming to add more firepower to his squad.

So what will Yacine Brahimi bring to Silva’s Everton should he make the switch to Goodison Park in January?

Brahimi has been one of the most dangerous wingers in Portugal for a number of seasons. A technically gifted, fleet-footed, agile winger, the Algerian is also adept at playing in a No.10 role or as a secondary striker when required.

He is blessed with explosive pace, trickery and backs himself to take on defenders and score goals from different positions.

The Algeria international possesses excellent vision and creativity which allow him to create chances for his teammates. Someone who can score goals and create chances in equal measure, Brahimi’s work ethic is excellent and has all the qualities to be a smash hit in the Premier League.

In fact, he is exactly the sort of signing who could propel Everton to a top-six finish this season.

At 28, Brahimi is playing at the peak of his powers and his arrival could see Everton become a more potent force going forward. Hence, Silva must not pass up the chance to sign the Algerian in what could be a brilliant cut-price deal in January.
