Everton beating Wolves to land this pacy Porto star would be a masterstroke by Silva – agreed?

Everton Opinion – Should Everton beat Wolves to sign Yacine Brahimi?

According to a report in Birmingham Mail, Premier League duo of Everton and Wolves are tipped to sign Porto star Yacine Brahimi. The winger-cum-attacking midfielder is out of contract at the end of this season, meaning he will be a free agent come the summer transfer window.

The managers of both teams who are linked with the move are Portuguese – Marco Silva and Nuno Espirito Santo. They are interested in taking the player from the Portuguese side. (Birmingham Mail)

Report also suggests that the Algerian international is keen to move to England and play in the Premier League.

Brahimi was linked with a move to Wolves last summer as well, hence, we won’t be surprised if the Molineux-based club take centre-stage with the deal this summer.(Birmingham Mail)

However, here’s why Everton should take centre-stage and sign the 29-year-old in few months time:

Everton’s need of Brahimi is far greater

Predominantly a left winger, Brahimi is more than capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or as a wide midfielder in a 4-3-3 system. He possesses an abundance of quality in his game and has the potential to change a game by his own.

The Algerian has great pace to stretch the opposition defence and take defenders on one-on-one in any area of the field. He is pretty good at dribbling. He has dribbled past defenders at the rate of 2.9 per game this season in the league.

The 29-year-old is also not shy when it comes to shooting from distance and testing the opposition goalkeeper. He has attempted 1.8 shots per game and scored seven in 21 league appearances. (Whoscored.com)

With the key pass rate of one per game, Brahimi shows that he is well attuned to picking out vital final balls in the final third for the runners in the box.

He has played as a left-sided midfielder or as a left winger more often than not this season. Furthermore, managers can use him as a number 10 or in the tip of a midfield three, if required.

Hence, all in all, the Algerian is a useful player who could improve any team he goes into.

Everton have their left winger position covered with Richarlison being the first-choice, however, with Theo Walcott struggling on the right wing, the Brazilian can go there and vacate a space for Brahimi to slot in.

Moreover, the Porto man can challenge Gylfi Sigurdsson for that number 10 or be a welcome addition to the wide midfield role, where Everton have been short on quality.

On the other hand, Wolves are blessed with quality and back-up in wide and attacking midfield areas.

Conclusion

Basing on the above-mentioned facts, Everton’s requirement of a player like Brahimi is far more apparent than Wolves. Hence, the Toffees should take centre-stage when the player officially becomes a free agent, finalise the wage thing and sign the Algerian for the upcoming seasons.
