Everton matching Chelsea’s €45m valuation of top-class star would take their attack to the next level – opinion

Everton opinion: Should the Toffees sign Michy Batshuayi?

According to the Daily Post, Everton are interested in signing Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi to solve their striker woes in the summer. The Belgian is currently on loan at fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace but is expected to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of his deal in the summer.

Batshuayi has been very good for Palace since his arrival in January. Despite scoring just twice for the Eagles, he has been a breath of fresh air up-front for the club.

The Belgian has combined very well with the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend. He is proving his quality as a top striker under Roy Hodgson.

A report from French outlet Calcio365 has revealed that the Belgian will not stay at Selhurst Park, beyond the end of his current loan deal, and he will return to the Blues in the summer.

Chelsea are said to be demanding a staggering €45million for Batshuayi in the summer and according to the report, the amount will be out of Palace’s reach.

However, Everton have been linked with a move for the Belgian and the Toffees, with their new majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, have the financial power to spend big, as evident in their signing of Richarlison last summer in a deal potentially worth £50million.

The Toffees have had their own problems up front, with Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin contributing to just 8 goals in the Premier League all season. This has forced Everton boss Marco Silva to move Richarlison up front, who has saved them on multiple occasions this season.

The Toffees will need to bring in a better striker up-front if they are to compete for those Europa League places next season and Michy Batshuayi would be an ideal candidate.

The Belgian has never really had the chance to be a regular at Chelsea; after multiple loan spells at Dortmund, Valencia and now Crystal Palace.

However, the 25-year-old has immense potential that he could fulfill under a manager like Marco Silva, who has brought out the best of players like Richarlison and Bernard this season.

Batshuayi would form a lethal front-line alongside the above-mentioned duo and with Gylfi Sigurdsson feeding balls into him, he can be a brilliant forward for the Toffees.

Conclusion

Everton should not hesitate to make a move for Michy Batshuayi in the summer and the Belgian would bring the goals that they have most certainly missed this season.

Batshuayi’s all-round ability would make him a valuable asset for the Toffees and he should be on top of their shopping list in the summer.
