Everton need to steer clear from signing this French free agent Frenchman despite having a glowing CV

Why Everton must avoid signing Franck Ribery

Marco Silva has a tough job on his hands at Everton as he tries to get the Toffees into Europe.

The former Watford manager ended last season with a string of good results and the Toffees made some shrewd signings in the summer.

The aim for Silva has to take Everton into the Champions League and the Blues have been linked to one of the best players from this generation.

Franck Ribery ended his association with Bayern Munich and is now a free agent. The 36-year-old has been linked with a move to the Toffees (h/t Liverpool Echo), but Silva needs to stay away from making this move.

A player in the final years of his career

Ribery has won several Bundesliga titles and picked up the Champions League title in 2012-13.

The Frenchman is possibly one of the best wingers to have graced the game and signing him on a free would seem like a great proposition.

However, the 36-year-old has had his injury problems in recent years and more importantly, he doesn’t have the same effect on the pitch as a few years back.

Everton spent big to sign Alex Iwobi from Arsenal and the winger was one of the more impressive performers under Unai Emery last season.

Bernard is another winger that will look to impress this season and has already found the back of the net.

Everton have quality forwards in the side now with Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin already on their books.

The big move of the summer has to be the capture of Moise Kean from Juventus, and the Italian will light up Goodison once he becomes a regular for Silva.

Not to forget, Richarlison has been excellent since he joined Silva from Watford, and the Brazilian should improve further after a wonderful summer with the national side.

Theo Walcott is also on the books and bringing Ribery in will only increase the headaches for Silva when it comes to team selection.

The Premier League is a faster and tougher league when compared to the Bundesliga, and this might not be the best move for Ribery too.

Verdict

Everton have a balanced attack at the moment and bringing in Ribery might not work all that well.

The Frenchman might have some gas left in the tank, but it’s best if the Toffees stay away from the 36-year-old.
