The Mexican international has the ability to play anywhere across the midfield and his versatility gives his manager a lot of options. Herrera thrives with the ball and loves to drive into the opposition half when in possession. He also has the eye to pick out a teammate from deep.
Despite his attacking prowess, Herrera has the positional awareness and senses danger effortlessly, thereby dropping back into a deeper position when under attack.
The 28-year-old is a strong and powerful presence in the middle of the park and his tough and robust tackling makes him the sort of midfielder that would dominate games in the Premier League.
Herrera averages 2.1 tackles per game, 1.2 interceptions per game and 1.7 successful aerial duels per 90 minutes. His offensive numbers are impressive too as he averages 1.3 shots per game and 1.1 key passes per game with a brilliant passing accuracy of over 85%.
With over 275 appearances for club and country, Herrera isn’t short of experience and he would help any team with his leadership skills. His already successful career so far will hit the next level if he does decide to move to the Premier League.
