Everton would pull off a shrewd move by signing this £22m-rated enforcer to build a formidable midfield unit

Everton Opinion: Why Ibrahim Sangare would be a smart fit at Everton?

According to a report from the Daily Post, Everton are interested in signing Toulouse midfield enforcer, Ibrahim Sangare.

The Ivory Coast international, 21, has had a good season in Ligue 1 and he is attracting interest from the Premier League as well as Lyon, who lost Tanguy Ndombele to Tottenham earlier this week.

However, Everton are keen to finalise a deal quickly in the current transfer window and must pay in the region of £22m to land Ibrahim Sangare, the report adds.

The Toffees have made a couple of signings in the summer transfer window, as Marco Silva aims to build on the strong finish in the 2018/19 campaign. Andre Gomes has arrived permanently after his loan spell from Barcelona.

Other than that, Everton have been working harder on getting players out of Goodison Park as opposed to in.

The strike department is an area where Silva needs to improve after seeing his team struggle for goals last season. Also, the Portuguese tactician should address his midfield, with the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, James McCarthy and Idrissa Gueye linked with an exit.

Amongst the trio, Gueye’s departure would prick the most for the Merseysiders considering his experience and how successfully he worked in tandem with Gomes in the middle of the park.

The Senegal international, who has already spoken of his desire to play in the Champions League, has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain. Should the Ligue 1 champions come up with an offer, it would be difficult to stop Gueye from leaving Goodison Park this summer.

Keeping that in mind, Silva should sign Ibrahim Sangare as Gueye’s potential replacement.  At just 21 years old, Sangare has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in Ligue 1.

He is a strong and smart holding midfielder, known for dictating play with his passing skills and crossing range. The Ivorian is excellent when it comes to snatching the ball from the opposition and recycling it.

The 21-year-old is one of the top tacklers in his position in the Ligue 1 and opponents find it exceptionally difficult to dribble past him in central areas.

Physically, Sangare is everything you want in a modern central midfielder. He uses his strength and power to break opposition’s play, whilst having the dynamism coupled with his talent on the ball to anchor the midfield.

Verdict

Sangare is a rising talent in Ligue 1 and he appears to have all the tools to succeed in the Premier League.

He is exactly the type of signing Marco Silva needs this summer to potentially replace Gueye and complement Gomes in the Everton engine room next season.
