Expected Chelsea XI (3-4-3) To Face Swansea

Antonio Conte’s run in his first ever season in the Premier League is getting closer to glory as Chelsea are currently 8 points off Manchester City in the second place in the points table. The Blues have a great chance to open up an 11 point gap this weekend when they face Paul Clement’s Swansea at the Bridge. The Swans have found some brilliant form in recent games, picking up 9 points from the last 4 games including ties against Liverpool, Southampton and Manchester City. Chelsea are in super form themselves, not dropping a point in the last 5 games and are expected to end Swansea’s run. Conte is expected to go with a strong lineup and here is the predicted lineup he might field for this tie:

Team News:

The manager has a couple of issues before this game against the Swans. Shot stopper Thibaut Courtois is infected with a bug and is doubtful for this game and so is defender David Luiz, who is nursing a knee injury. Both players will be selected after a late fitness test before the game.

Expected lineup (3-4-3):

Aasmir Begovic:

With Courtois doubtful, Conte can afford to give him some rest and continue with Begovic, who was decent in the FA Cup outing earlier in the week.

Cesar Azpilicueta:

The Spaniard has been one of the best players in his position in the league and is one of the first names on the team sheet for Conte this season.

John Terry:

David Luiz is having trouble with his knee and is still not declared fit for this tie. So Conte should not take any risks and should use Terry in his position just for this game.

Gary Cahill:

Completing the backline, Cahill, who has been solid at the back this season for the Blues, should keep his place on the left side of the back3 for Conte.

Victor Moses:

Though a bit sedate in the last few games, Moses, is an impact player and will surely have an influence on this game at the weekend.

Nemanja Matic:

The first choice midfielder for Conte this season, Matic, adds some balance to the squad and should keep his place in the side.

N Golo Kante:

The powerhouse in the midfield for Chelsea, Kante, has been one of the best players in the league this season and will be a constant thorn in the flesh for the Swans.

Marcos Alonso:

The summer buy for Chelsea, Alonso has cemented a place in the side with some brilliant performances this season and will hope to have a decent game this weekend at the Bridge.

Pedro:

The Spaniard was influential in Chelsea’s last two victories and he should start on the right wing for the Blues for this tie.

Eden Hazard:

The Belgian is one of the most effective players in the Premier League this season and will be a huge threat in front of goal for the visitors.

Diego Costa:

The Spaniard has been misfiring for the last couple of games but he has the ability to make things happen and can easily help Chelsea to a victory in this game.
