Fantastic Armstrong, Superb Raya – The best and the worst rated Blackburn players in the 2-1 win vs Leeds

Blackburn Rovers Player Ratings vs Leeds: Here’s how the Rovers fared

Blackburn Rovers beat Leeds United 2-1 in a frenetic Championship game in a beautiful autumn afternoon at Ewood Park. Danny Graham and Darragh Lenihan scored in each half to secure three points for the home team. Mateusz Klich did equalise for Marcelo Bielsa’s men at the stroke of half-time but it proved to be fruitless.

It was a fantastic game of football, end to end with both teams going for the win with every passing minute. There were a total 38 attempts on goal, 12 on target, hence, one can recognise the narrative in the sunshine of Blackburn.

Blackburn Rovers Player Ratings

David Raya (8)

Made some fantastic saves to deny the away side. He was secure and imperious between the sticks.

Elliot Bennett (7.5)

Bennett was superb at right-back, making crucial interceptions and also going forward when required.

Darragh Lenihan

Darragh Lenihan (8)

Scored the all-important winner 20 minutes from time to seal three points. He was good at the back too, barring one moment of hesitation with the keeper.

Charlie Mulgrew (7.5)

Made a crucial block at the end to deny Leeds the late equaliser. He was relatively solid alongside Lenihan.

Amari Bell (7)

Came into the side today and did well. Made an important interception when the Peacocks pushed for the late goal to snatch a point.

Richard Smallwood (6.5)

Was drafted into the side today but couldn’t really impact the way he would have wanted to. In spite of that, he had a good shift for 58 minutes.

Corry Evans (7)

A good performance from Evans in the midfield. He was alive to all possibilities in the tight areas of the pitch. Produced a great block in the end to deny the shot on goal.

Harrison Reed (7.5)

Assisted the opening goal and was active on the right wing. Was always trying different things to create a chance. Came off as he struggled with a niggle.

Bradley Dack (7)

Was always involved in the game, linking the play up and shooting from distance. Became the central striker after Graham was subbed off.

Adam Armstrong (8.5)

A fantastic performance by Armstrong down the left wing. His pace, trickery and creativity were on another level. Was rightly named the man of the match.

Danny Graham

Danny Graham (7)

Led the line well and scored the opening goal just two minutes into the game.

Subs

Jack Rodwell (Subbed on after 58 mins) (6)

Was brought on to shore up the midfield and freshen things up. He gave the ball away which nearly brought the equaliser for Leeds. Apart from that, he was solid.

Ben Brereton (Subbed on after 61 mins) (6)

Came on to add pace in the wide areas and stretch the opposition defence. Had one or two moments.

An influential substitute whose first involvement was to whip a cross in for Lenihan to score the second goal. Conway whipped in another cross, this time towards Dack who planted his header wide.
