Fantastic Armstrong – The Best And The Worst Rated Celtic Players From The 4-0 Win vs St. Johnstone

Full Time: St. Johnstone 0-4 Celtic

Celtic wrote themselves into the annals of history when they defeated St. Johnstone 4-0 at the McDiarmid Park earlier in the day. The win meant the Hoops extended their unbeaten run in the domestic competitions to a whopping 63 games, breaking a British record that had stood for 100 years.

Scott Sinclair opened the scoring for Brendan Rodgers’ side in the 28th minute, before striker Moussa Dembele made it two in the 72nd minute. The Frenchman was in the thick of action again, as three minutes later, he sent in a cross that was deflected into the net by Saints’ defender Steven Anderson, before substitute Olivier Ntcham scored a fourth to give the scoreline an added gloss.

And here’s how the Celtic players fared on the day.

Celtic Player Ratings

Craig Gordon – 6/10

Had one save to make in the first period, which he did, not in the most convincing manner though. Was never called into action after the break.

Mikael Lustig – 7/10

Continued his impressive form in recent games, putting in another solid defensive display at the back.

Dedryck Boyata – 6.5/10

Did not have a whole lot to do in the defensive side of things. Looked to get forward and get involved in building play. Had a header cleared off the line.

Nir Bitton – 6.5/10

Had a few nervy moments when dealing with crosses into the box, but otherwise he was solid and steady at the back.

Kieran Tierney – 6.5/10

Raided down the left flank with regularity, but couldn’t find any of his teammates with his deliveries into the box.

Scott Brown – 7.5/10

Controlled the flow and the tempo of the game in the middle of the park and always looked to get his team driving forward.

Stuart Armstrong – 8/10

Ran the show from the midfield. Put in a perfect delivery to find Sinclair for the opener and got the assist for Dembele’s goal as well.

James Forrest – 7/10

Got forward well on the flanks and had the beating of his man. Sent in a couple of dangerous crosses into the box.

Callum McGregor – 6/10

Was neat and tidy in possession without trying to be adventurous. Had some speculative efforts at goal, before being taken off for Tom Rogic.

Scott Sinclair – 7/10

Scored his 11th goal of the season in the first-half, after having missed a chance. Was not at his best, but the goal will be a boost.

Moussa Dembele – 7.5/10

Was a danger all game long with his running at the defences. Produced a composed finish to make it 2-0 in the second period, before firing in a cross that led to the own goal.

Substitutes

Tom Rogic – 6/10

Replaced McGregor just before the hour-mark. Had an effort at goal and won the ball that lead to the third goal.

Jonny Hayes – N/A

On for Forrest with less than 15 minutes left to play.

Olivier Ntcham – 7/10

Replaced Armstrong in the closing stages of the game and scored the fourth one for the champions.
