Jose Mourinho’s second ever travel to the Stamford Bridge as the manager of Manchester United ended in yet another defeat as Alvaro Morata’s second-half goal was enough for the Blues to secure all three points this weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s men pushed the ante late in the game but failed to take anything.

Thibaut Courtois (8)

The Belgian ace was tested frequently late in the game but he stood up against what was thrown at him, keeping a clean sheet.

Cesar Azpilicueta (7)

Starting as a part of the backline, Azpilicueta kept a close watch on the United wingers all game and also produced the cross that helped Morata find the back of the net.

Andreas Christensen (6)

Gave away needless fouls and was constantly under pressure from Lukaku. But he made sure that he threw himself at everything United had to offer.

Gary Cahill (6)

The skipper on the night, Cahill had a comfortable evening, thanks to the out-of-form Mkhitaryan.

 

Davide Zappacosta (6)

Started the game brightly but slowly faded away as he failed to have any kind of an impact at either end, especially in defence.

N’Golo Kante (7)

Coming in after a long break, Kante was a bit lethargic with his tackling but his industry and attitude were enough to keep Manchester United players on their toes all night.

Cesc Fabregas (6)

Started as a part of a three-man midfield and was a constant presence in the middle of the park for Chelsea, where he helped turn defence into attack consistently.

Tiemoue Bakayoko (6)

The French international was decent in a slightly attacking role, where he had two easy chances, both of which he should have finished.

Eden Hazard (7)

The Belgian ace, though not as effective as he usually is, was still the biggest threat to United, where he managed to create enough chances to see his side through.

Alvaro Morata (7)

Ended his goal drought with a well-taken header but was generally looking out of touch, failing to command the attacking third.

Substitutes:

Antonio Rudiger (6)

Came on for Zappacosta to add some solidity at the back and helped his side see out the game.

Danny Drinkwater (6)

Making his debut for Chelsea, Drinkwater needed to put in a shift late in the game as United slowly started to crawl back into the game.

Had more to do defensively than in the attack in the last few minutes he got on to the field.
