Fantastic Gayle – The Best And The Worst Rated Newcastle Players vs Leeds

The trip to Leeds was seen as a big test for Newcastle, as they push toward the Championship title and Premier League promotion.

In front of a packed Elland Road crowd, Newcastle showed that nothing will stop them from returning to the Premier League as they dismantled an improving Leeds side.

We look at the player ratings from the game:

Karl Darlow – 8

Certainly one of Newcastle’s key players against Leeds, and produced key saves at key times to keep them in front. The type of performance that wins your club a title.

Vernon Anita – 8

Good in both defence and attack, he showed he is tireless on the flank and justified his inclusion above Yedlin with an assist.

Jamaal Lascelles – 8

Rock in the centre of the Newcastle’s defence, and stood firm during the periods of Leeds pressure.

Ciaran Clark – 7

He looks at home at this level and has struck up a great understanding with Lascelles.

Paul Dummett – 7

Didn’t look at all under threat, and it was a pretty comfortable afternoon’s work for the Newcastle left back.

Matt Ritchie – 7

Did the ugly stuff well and whilst he didn’t produce the magic he is normally capable of it was a solid performance.

Jonjo Shelvey – 8

Run the midfield for Newcastle as always and had the opposition chasing shadows for long spells.

Jack Colback – 7

Worked well in tandem with Shelvey, doing all of the dirty work. An important cog in this victory.

Yoan Gouffran – 7

A solid if uninspiring performance, but he showed exactly why he is a mainstay in this Newcastle team. He works hard and you know exactly what you are getting from him.

Ayoze Perez – 7

Capable of more but was another of the Newcastle players who rolled their sleeves up and grafted to get this win.

Dwight Gayle – 9

Without a doubt a Man of The Match. If you want to win the titles, you need to take your chances when they come and be clinical. This man is taking Newcastle back to the Premier League.
