Gameweek 26 continues for two straight weekends with only one game scheduled for the 16-17th February weekend. Two of the teams, Swansea and Liverpool are going to have a double gameweek providing the chance to Fantasy Premier League managers to boost up their scores by including players from these two teams. Also some very interesting matches are to take place this weekend, with the top draw being Manchester United against Everton, where revenge will surely be the first thing on mind for the Red Devils. Some of the newcomers in the league have already established into the league quite well and can now be seriously considered as Fantasy Premier League options. Some of the important features of gameweek 26 are as follows.
Newcastle United gaining form
The most active team in the January transfer window, Newcastle United, has shown some momentum in the past couple of matches and their late goals against Chelsea the previous week sealed their win against a struggling Blues side under Rafa Benitez. Moussa Sissoko has specially impressed with his attacking instincts and can be a very important player for both his team and the Fantasy Premier League managers. Priced at a very moderate £6.0m, he has all the traits of becoming a FPL asset and for players who cannot afford Bale or Mata for their high price, he can be just the perfect alternative.
Swansea and Liverpool enjoy double gameweek
Both Swansea and Liverpool have double gameweek where they play against each other apart from playing against QPR and West Brom respectively. Among Liverpool, it is Daniel Sturridge who has really made a mark in his short span at the club. Glen Johnson is another player who has impressed off lately and looked pretty likely to score with his attacking flair. Among Swansea, Michu remains a favourite with his irresistible form this season.
At this this moment some of their defenders can also be thought of, especially Ben Davies, who has been quite a rock in their back-line. But all this enthusiasm should not undermine the fact that both these teams have a blank gameweek 27 and the managers should plan their team according to that.
It is a tough call between RVP and Rooney
Robin Van Persie has been the highlight of the season for Manchester United and it is mainly because of his exploits that United are now comfortably placed at the top of the table with a 9 points gap with Manchester City. But the past two weeks have not been the usual for this Dutchman and he has failed to produce two back to back blank gameweeks.
Rooney, on the other hand, has scored thrice in this period and sure brought the question in many Fantasy Premier League managers’ mind that whether it is time to swap RVP for Rooney? We can only say that RVP has been more consistent throughout the season while Rooney has looked quite injury prone. This should secure RVP’s place ahead of Rooney, but if the managers decide to take the less traversed path, it may yield them with some good returns.
