Farke to make 9 changes? Predicted 4-2-3-1 Norwich line-up to face Portsmouth in the FA Cup

Predicted Norwich City line-up to face Portsmouth in the FA Cup

Norwich City will welcome Portsmouth at the Carrow Road in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

The Canaries have had a tough festive run and are expected to field a heavily rotated side against the League One outfit at the weekend.

Norwich City boss Daniel Farke has plenty of injuries throughout his squad and after the 1-1 draw with Brentford in the Championship on Tuesday, he’ll look to give his first-team players a rest.

Team News

Moritz Leitner remains out with a ligament problem, while Jamal Lewis and Emi Buendia are sidelined until mid-January.

Probable Norwich City XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Daniel Farke

Michael McGovern (GK)

McGovern is expected to get the nod for the cup game on Saturday.

Felix Passlack (RB)

Passlack has made only four appearances for Norwich – all of which have been in the cup competition. The German desperately needs minutes under his belt and must start on Saturday.

Grant Hanley

Grant Hanley (CB)

Hanley needs to regain match fitness and there is no better way than giving him a start in a cup competition.

Ben Godfrey (CB)

Godfrey has done well at left-back in the last few games but he’ll likely start in central defence against Portsmouth.

Ivo Pinto (LB)

Lewis and Aarons have kept Pinto out of the starting XI. However, Farke could turn to Pinto for Saturday’s FA Cup fixture.

Tom Trybull (CM)

Trybull will start in central midfield and look to break Portsmouth’s play.

Tom Scully (CM)

Partnering Trybull in the Norwich City engine room could be Tom Scully.

Ben Marshall (RW)

Marshall has been starved of game time and hasn’t played since August. He desperately needs some game time.

Dennis Srbeny (CAM)

Srbeny scored twice in the League Cup earlier this season. He is expected to get the nod ahead of Stiepermann for the No.10 role.

Onel Hernandez (LW)

With his blistering pace and dribbling abilities, Hernandez can single-handedly run riot against Portsmouth at Carrow Road.

Jordan Rhodes (ST)

Pukki deserves a rest, hence, Rhodes could be the player to lead Norwich’s line on Saturday.
