Five players To keep An Eye On This Season: Manchester United Defender In The List Along With Liverpool Hitman

With the Premier League now three weeks old, players have almost hit top gear. We have seen some players hit the mark right from the go, strikers, defenders, midfielders and goalkeepers, some of them have already shown what they are capable of doing and if they continue playing in this form, they probably will end up in the Team of the season. We look at a few players who have been exceptional so far this season and should be kept an eye on this season.

Christian Benteke

Liverpool might have paid a large amount to sign the Belgian from Aston Villa and after a rather slow start in his first game; Benteke has shown he is the right man for the club. Benteke has only grown from strength to strength at Liverpool and his best performance came against Arsenal where he was immaculate in attack. He is a brute in handling defenders and his partnership with Sturridge should be lethal once the English striker comes back to full fitness.

Georginio Wijnaldum

We said it earlier and we will say it again, Steve McClaren has pulled off a couple of brilliant signings and getting Wijnaldum from PSV. The 24-year-old scored on his debut for Newcastle and followed it up with a couple of great performances, most recently against Manchester United. It will be worth keeping an eye on the midfielder and if any other clubs try to sign him from Newcastle next year.

Matteo Darmian

The 25-year-old full-back wasn’t one of the biggest signings in this transfer window but he could be one of the best. Signed from Torino in Serie A, Louis van Gaal has got one of the best defenders for a paltry sum to be honest. The Italian was one of the stars in the 2014 World Cup for Italy and has started his Manchester United career in great form. He has been one of their best players this season and he hasn’t even hit top gear yet.

Riyad Mahrez

Leicester might be flying high in the Premier League but it wouldn’t have been possible without the form of Mahrez. The Algerian has been the star of the Premier League so far and the 24-year-old has four goals in just three appearances for the Foxes. Mahrez has been brilliant in attack and looks a threat in almost every game he has played. Credit could also be given to Claudio Ranieri for his handling of the Foxes on his return to England and Mahrez is enjoying the form of his life.

Jack Butland

With Asmir Begovic joining Chelsea, everyone expected Shay Given to become the new number one at Stoke City, due to his experience of playing in the Premier League but Mark Hughes trusted his young goalkeeper and Butland has not disappointed so far. The English 22-year-old has been brilliant for the Potters this season, his performances have only gotten better as he mans the posts for Stoke and he could have a stellar season for a constantly improving Stoke side.
