The 2018 World Cup to be held in Russia will be taking place on June 14, 2018. Taking home the World Cup trophy is every footballers dream, and some professional footballers will be missing out in this year campaign. Here will be five top players to miss out which will most probably be missed the most according to the experts of .

ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN (ENGLAND)

Liverpool star, Chamberlain was a good contender in the England squad and was deemed for greatness in the World Cup, but his dream was short-lived following a long-term knee injury he acquired while playing for the Reds in the Champions League semi-finals first leg against AS Roma. .

LAURENT KOSCIELNY (FRANCE)

The Arsenal defender got sidelined while playing for his club in the Europa League semi-finals against Atletico Madrid, an injury which seems to have tore up Achilles tendon.

The 32-year-old defender will be on the sidelines for six months, with France Manager Didier Deschamps confirming the news he will be out throughtout the World Cup campaign.

LARS STINDL (GERMANY)

Another star ruled out of the World Cup with injury is German and Borussia Mönchengladbach forward is Lars Stindl after damaging his ligament and will be set to undergo a surgery.

Stindl has not been a key figure for the Germans in the attack, but has been called upon numerous times by Joachim Low in their friendly match against Spain, Brazil and France and has been impressive for his country.

Also to his name is FIFA Confederation Cup 2017 title and the Silver boot.

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC (SWEDEN)

Sweden and Paris Saint-Germain legend, Ibrahimovic has been struck with a major blow as he will not be appearing at the World Cup in Russia this summer, with the Swedish FA confirming this.

His omission from the World Cup could have been due his poor season with Manchester United owing to series of injuries, and his move to the Los Angeles Galaxy this Winter. Despite several still expect Zlatan to play for Sweden it seems the Swedish FA won’t allow his return.

 SANTI CAZORLA (SPAIN)

After being sidelined for two years, Arsenal playmaker, Santi Cazorla is struck with yet another blow, as he is set to miss out on the World Cup. Cazorla has been spotted to have returned to first full team training with Arsenal, but the manager announced that it would be “stupid” to play him for now and is unwilling to risk him in any match.

The first World Cup match will be kicked-off between Russia and Saudi Arabia on June 14, 2018.
