Does Harry Kane really deserve to be the 3rd most valuable footballer ahead of Ronaldo?

Harry Kane

Food for thought: Does Harry Kane really deserve to be the 3rd most valuable player in football ahead of Ronaldo?

Tottenham fans will not be too pleased with the position of their side in the points table at the moment but they should thank the Footballing Gods as they are able to witness one of the finest strikers in world football in Harry Kane, week in week out.

The English international scored more goals than any other player in the top-5 leagues in Europe in 2017 and seems to be getting better by the game. His 2017 may not be easy for him to better but at just, 24, it is hard to see him not improve those returns in the years to come.

He is currently the top scorer in the English domestic league and has won the Golden Boot in England for the last two seasons, which has all but established him as the best striker in the competition. He is also the first choice striker for the Three Lions under Gareth Southgate and has a huge role to play in the upcoming World Cup in Russia.

So it does not come as a surprise that he is fast climbing up the list of the most expensive players in the game at the moment. According to a list published by the CIES football observatory, Kane is now the third most valuable player in the sport. Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr are the only players above him on the list, while the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Paulo Dybala and Dele Alli are not too far behind. So is Kane really worthy of being the third most valuable player in football?

His stats certainly make him one of the best. He has more hat-tricks than any other player in Europe in the last couple of seasons and has 96 goals and 16 assists in 137 PL appearances. He has 26 goals in 27 games in all competitions this season and has been in fine form, scoring goals galore in the month of December.

He also has 12 goals in 23 appearances for his national side, showing his quality at the highest level. He is a player who can walk into any squad in the world, literally.

Neymar with his trickery and Messi with his magic are certainly more effective than Kane in a game of football but the English striker and his ruthlessness in front of goal is surely not too far behind.

His record makes him one of the best in the game right now but the only thing that brings up this debate is the number of trophies he has won in his career.

The lack of success on the field has left Kane struggling to make a name for himself but lists like these are the ones that show his true impact on the game. He is only going to get better and may one day go a step higher in that list of most valuable players in the sport. At the moment, he is easily the most valuable in England and deserves the 3rd place in the World.
