Food For Thought – Tottenham Should Try To Sign These 3 Squad/Back-up Players Including Middlesbrough Ace

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino

Three Premier League Players Who Tottenham Can Target In The Summer

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the most consistent sides in the competition and it does not come as a surprise that they are on the top end of the list of clubs with the highest number of English players in their first team. It is a system of scouting that has worked well for Pochettino and with the transfer window coming up, he will surely have an eye on some quality players from within the English domestic circuit and the Premier League. Tottenham need quality but also need depth in their squad and here are three players who are playing in the Premier League, that Pochettino can target this summer:

Jermain Defoe (Sunderland)

The English striker has been in terrific form this season in a relegation threatened Sunderland side. He has been impeccable in front of goal but might not be able to help the Black Cats stay up for another season. But he will want to play in the Premier League and Spurs, one of his former teams, can look to snap him up. He can act as a backup for Harry Kane and can help Pochettino’s side compete in all four competitions next season.

Adama Traore (Middlesbrough)

The former Barcelona man is one of the best dribblers in Europe but he has not found any consistency during his time in England. Pochettino was all praises for the 21-year old recently and he is surely a risk worth taking, especially with Middlesbrough looking more and more likely to get relegated. At his age, he fits into the style at White Hart Lane and Pochettino can take his time to integrate him into the team next season. He is sure to provide some moments of excitement and if he can earn the trust of the Argentine, he can turn into a crucial player for Spurs next season.

Demarai Gray (Leicester City)

Already linked with a move to Tottenham, the Leicester City youngster is among the most exciting players in the league at the moment. At just 20, he has already created a lot of impact during his time at the King Power and he might be ready for the next step. He may take some time to settle into the system at White Hart Lane but playing for a manager like Pochettino, who trusts players regardless of their age, Gray can turn into a top-class star in London. He is settled at the King Power but Pochettino might be able to lure him away from Leicester this summer.
