Food For Thought: Who Will Be The Two Key Players For Liverpool Next Season

As the season is about to begin in not more than two weeks, a sense of hope and optimism is running throughout the Liverpool camp. The Reds have had a decent transfer season in which they acquired the services of the very talented Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum in the form of major signings. Jurgen Klopp also signed Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan at the back along with the goalkeeper Loris Karius. This transfer season also saw the departure of many players with the likes of Martin Skrtel, Joe Allen, Brad Smith to name a few. Klopp is still on the hunt for a midfielder and a full-back and will be looking to let go Balotelli and Benteke in the attack. With so much going on, the fans are excited about the prospects of the new season and we take a look at who will be the two key players for Liverpool next season.

Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian was the player who brought the spark in the Liverpool midfield and who was responsible not only to score some quality goals against tough opponents but also create chances out of nothing. Coutinho has seen a sharp development in his game over the years at Liverpool and last season was his best so far. The little magician not only scored terrific goals but was also influential with the goals. During his initial seasons, his contributions were overshadowed by the performance of Suarez and Sterling; however since the last two seasons he has been the star performer for Liverpool. Klopp and his team will heavily rely on his contribution this season and he will need to take the lead in attack and ensure dominance.

Roberto Firmino

Another Brazilian who was brought to Anfield with a lot of expectations did give justice by his performances in the first season. Firmino took his time to settle at the new club and wasn’t that effective in the first half of the season. However, in the second half, he was much better with as many as 11 assists and an equal number of goals for his new club. The Brazilian teamed up really well with his fellow country mate along with Adam Lallana and together the three were really effective. It is his second season with the club and he will be a key figure to watch out for in attack as Liverpool gear up for the new season.
