Why Sean Dyche Is The Right Man For The Crystal Palace Job

Crystal Palace, having been saved from a relegation scare last season under Sam Allardyce, are yet to sort out their managerial conundrum following the departure of Allardyce as the Eagles boss. The veteran gaffer’s surprise exit has hit their future hard. A lot of managers were available in the market. Marco Silva for one, was available but he has now taken over at Watford.

Also, Garry Monk opted to move to relegated Middlesbrough in order to win them promotion. Roger Schmidt, the former Bayer Leverkusen boss, has joined Chinese Premier League outfit Beijing Guoan. ‘Tinkerman’ Claudio Ranieri, the mastermind behind Leicester City’s miraculous Premier League triumph, has decided to join French outfit FC Nantes.

Palace, thus, now have limited options to select from and if reports are believed to be true, Frank De Boer, Mauricio Pellegrino and Sean Dyche are the names that are currently being explored by the management.

Frank De Boer, the Dutch legend, had his spells with Eredivisie heavyweights Ajax and Serie A giants Inter Milan. However, he was sacked only after three months in charge of the latter, following a series of disappointing outcomes. But his style does not fit the Eagles as he is known for his attacking intent. So his side’s defensive indiscipline and vulnerability might trouble them big time.

Mauricio Pellegrino, the ex-Argentine international and former Liverpool centre-back has performed a commanding job with La Liga minnows Alaves guiding them to a 9th-placed league finish in their first top flight campaign since 2005–06 and took them to the final of Copa Del Rey for the first time ever (but they were defeated 3-1 by Spanish giants Barcelona).

Puel, the former Southampton manager, is not an inferior alternative considering an 8th placed finish in the league and guiding the Saints to League Cup final during his first season in English football despite being a selling club in the recent past. But the Frenchman is currently not the name that is in the frame for the Selhurst Park hotseat and it is Burnley boss Sean Dyche to who they are after, offering him an alluring contract to switch sides.

The 45-year old Englishman has earned loads of applauds for his impeccable work with the Clarets despite the budget constraints and earned them a promotion by winning the Championship title. He has now guided them to safety in the Premier League and registered them as an admirable mid-table Premier League force.

Dyche is hailed for his defensive rigidity and dominance at Turf Moor. Crystal Palace need a long term solution of their managerial conundrum and Dyche fits the bill. He might even be open to a move to a bigger club who already have stars like Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha. He can build a squad surrounding them in order to get closer to a place in Europe. Palace have to be ambitious and convince him to join them at Selhurst Park.
