Forget Alex Tettey – Norwich City would take a step in the right direction by signing any of these two midfielders instead as a replacement

Norwich City Opinion: Two Alex Tettey replacements Farke should target

Norwich City star Alex Tettey may have played 28 games in this Championship season but he has rarely looked at the top of his game.

Alex Tettey, 32, has been a brilliant servant for the Canaries, making over 200 appearances across all competitions since joining from Rennes back in 2012. The midfielder signed a new two-year contract extension last year that tied him with the club until 2020.

The 34-cap Norway international’s performance levels have dipped mightily this season, with injuries also not doing him any favours. With Tettey set to turn 33 in April and has just a year left on his contract, it’s high Daniel Farke starts thinking about replacing him.

That said, here are two players Norwich should consider to replace Tettey in the summer.

1. Marlon Pack (Bristol City)

Marlon Pack is currently enjoying another solid season with Bristol City in the Championship. He has made 31 league appearances so far, managing two goals and as many assists.

The 27-year-old is a combative midfielder who breaks the opposition’s play with his tackles, interceptions, blocks and clearances. Calm and composed in possession as well, Pack also likes to regularly join the attack, and his aerial presence makes him a threat to the opposition from corners.

The former Portsmouth man has the rare ability to play in different positions as per the need of the situation. For such a player it’s to his massive credit that Pack has surged forward and scored two league goals this season too.

2. Taras Romanczuk (Jagiellonia Białystok)

Taras Romanczuk isn’t a household name but his performances with Jagiellonia Białystok in Poland have certainly been impressive over the last few years.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Romanczuk is a good distributor of the ball and is quite adept at switching the play from one end of the pitch to another. The Pole is very strong in the air and robust in the challenge, making him such a difficult player to dribble past.

The one-cap Poland international is brilliant at man-marking his opponents and is also quite a nuisance to the opposition defenders during set-pieces due to his burly frame and physical strength.

Romanczuk has all the tools to flourish in English football and Norwich should consider him to replace the ageing Tettey.
