Three Alternatives For Alexis Sanchez Who Manchester City Can Target

Alexis Sanchez could be a big coup for Manchester City and there is no doubt that Pep Guardiola will make every effort to sign him. He has already been linked with Man City and Bayern Munich. However, with the Chilean’s future still uncertain at Arsenal, the Gunners will try their level best to make Sanchez stay with them. Should City not be able to complete the signing of Sanchez here are three replacements they can look into.

James Rodriguez

James Rodriguez has struggled to break into Zinedine Zidane’s starting eleven at Real Madrid and is desperately in need for solid game time. Manchester City can look into Rodriguez as a creative signing to complement and eventually replace David Silva. This move would also give James Rodriguez the game time he needs and help him leave a mark in the Premier League. Despite limited game time, the Colombian scored 11 goals and made 8 assists for Real Madrid last season and a move to Manchester could sky-rocket those figures given his obvious quality. Rodriguez would slot in well into Guardiola’s attack and should be a target for the Citizens.

Marco Reus

Reus is another player who is in the same grade as Alexis Sanchez. The quick German is well known for terrorising the defences in the Bundesliga with his direct-running and technique with the ball. Reus has had injury struggles in the past but he is Borussia Dortmund’s most deadly and important player. Reus scored 15 goals and registered 5 assists in a season hampered by injury last year. The German would slot in well into Guardiola’s City side and provide options for the Catalan boss on the wings to complement Sane, Sterling and the likes. Reus could be available for a far cheaper price than Sanchez and is a player Guardiola should look at seriously.

Stephan El Shaarawy

El Shaarawy of Roma is the third option that City could go for should they not land Sanchez. Shaarawy has demonstrated his talent at the young age of 24 by being one of Roma’s main outlets for creativity. His layoffs, one-two passing, long range shooting, dead ball ability, and dribbling have made him a useful winger to have in any team. Shaarawy scored 14 goals and made 4 assists for Roma last season and he could be a vital inside forward to have should City pursue signing him. Shaarawy however, as is the case with most players from Roma, will be hard to convince into leaving. But a big offer from Manchester City could change all of that.
