Forget Aubameyang – Here Are 3 Top-class Alternatives Who Man City Can Target, Including €28m Serie A Beast

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Three Alternatives For Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Who Manchester City Can Target

Having dropped points in just one game so far this season, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are well on their way to glory this season but they will have to be careful if they are to keep up the momentum until late in the season. The manager knows as much and would be looking to add some quality to his squad in the January transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been on his radar for quite a while but he has revealed that he is not interested in a move to the Premier League in a recent interview with Telefoot. So City will now have to find other alternatives to keep the side high on quality. Here are three alternatives who Pep Guardiola can target:

Dries Mertens (AS Napoli)

The €28m rated Belgian international is easily one of the best attackers in world football at the moment and has been in an impressive form of late. At 30, he would not be a long-term option for City but his style of play is perfectly suited for Pep Guardiola, who will love to have him on his side. A versatile player who can play as a false-9 and as a winger, Mertens is at his best at the moment and will be a superb addition for the Citizens.

Timo Werner (RB Leipzig)

The German goal scoring sensation is slowly establishing himself in Europe. At just 21, Werner has turned into the first choice striker for the German national team and has been in impeccable form for RB Leipzig since the start of the previous season. He has been linked with a move to England and Spain recently and Manchester City should be all over him if he decides to move. He is another player who will fit seamlessly into Guardiola’s style of play at the Etihad.

Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

Probably the easiest transfer target of the three, Sanchez is reportedly favourite to move to Etihad in January. The Chilean international was one of the most productive players in Europe last season but lack of progress at the Emirates is pushing him out of the club. His contract comes to an end come the end of the season and City are reportedly ready to offer Arsenal a decent sum to sign him up in January. His experience with Guardiola during their time at Barcelona will surely help Sanchez adjust to the conditions at City without much fuss.
