Forget Bradley – Here Are 3 Perfect Candidates Swansea Could Look To Sign Including The Former Birmingham Manager

Late in the evening on Tuesday, Swansea City announced that the club had decided to part ways with manager Bob Bradley only 11 games since his appointment. The American national replaced Francesco Guidolin as the Swans’ boss in October, but a poor run of results meant the first manager from the United States of America to have managed in the English top-flight was shown the exit doors.

His departure came after Swansea’s 4-1 thrashing at the hands of West Ham United on Boxing Day that left the Welsh outfit in the nineteenth position in the league table, level on points with bottom side Hull City. Bradley departs from Wales with a record of two wins, two draws and seven defeats in the 11 matches, in which his team conceded a whopping 29 goals.

With the January transfer window just around the corner, Swansea would like to appoint a new manager as early as possible with their eyes on surviving the drop. Here we look at three options that Swans’ management could consider for the vacant manager’s spot:

Alan Pardew

Alan Pardew

Pardew just became available this week, after he was sacked from Crystal Palace on December 22nd, after a series of poor results in 2016 and could prove to be the right option for Swansea.

The former Newcastle boss has the necessary experience required having managed in the Premier League. The 55-year-old has often had a great start at each of his previous clubs and that is something that Swansea could desperately do with, given their current predicament.

However, he was appointed as the manager of Charlton Athletic in similar circumstances a decade ago, but Pardew had failed to keep them in the top-flight.

Ryan Giggs

Ryan Giggs

The Manchester United legend had been interviewed by the Swansea board after Guidolin was sacked, but was overlooked in favour of Bradley.

The former Welsh winger is one of the most decorated footballers in Premier League history but has no experience as a manager. However, he had been at the helm for United for four games after David Moyes was fired and achieved good results. Post that, Giggs worked as the assistant manager to Louis Van Gaal for two years.

This experience, along with his vast playing experience in the English top-flight could well sway the tide in his favour. There are good chances that Giggs will bring in former teammates Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt as part of his support staff if appointed.

Gary Rowett

Gary Rowett

42-year-old Gary Rowett is regarded as one of the brightest young managers in Britain but was shockingly sacked by championship side Birmingham, despite leading them close to the play-off places.

Rowett is an ambitious manager and will be keen to prove himself after being shown the door by Birmingham. He has shown that he has the pedigree and with Swansea’s history of appointing young and promising managers in the past when they brought in the likes of Roberto Martinez, Brendan Rodgers and Garry Monk, Rowett could very well be the next name on that list.
