Forget Davies – Here Are 3 Super Left-Backs Tottenham Hotspur Could Look To Sign

The Welsh international could be on his way to Selhurst Park

Tottenham have hit hot form over the festive period and have carried that into the New Year and are looking unstoppable at the moment. However, the same cannot be said about their rivals Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s men have been struggling terribly in recent weeks, and their ageing defence has looked all over the place and have been exposed time and again. Especially, the left-back spot where both Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov have been highly unconvincing.

So, it hasn’t come as a surprise that the Citizens are out in the market, looking to add some youth and freshness on the left-hand side of their defence. And one player who they have identified as a suitable target is Tottenham’s Ben Davies. The 23-year old hasn’t featured a lot for the North Londoners this term, but he still remains a key member of the squad and with Jan Vertonghen’s recent injury, Davies will be expected to slot in at the left-side of the three-men backline for the Lilywhites. So, the move to City looks highly unlikely at the moment. But, if the transfer does go through, here are three replacements that Tottenham could look at, to replace the Welshman:

Ryan Bertrand

Ever since moving to Southampton from Chelsea, Bertrand has gone on to become one of the better left-backs in the Premier League and has been a wonderful addition to the Saints’ solid backline.

The 27-year old has shown great solidity in defence and has also displayed his ability to play as a centre-back in past seasons for Southampton. He has been in fine form this term as well, making 17 appearances for his team across all competitions having scored twice and assisted one goal.

Good pace, physically strong and full of attacking intent, he could turn out be a fine addition for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
