Forget Jamie Walker: Here Are 2 Quality Alternatives Rangers Should Look To Sign Including This Norwich Star

Jamie Walker

Two Alternatives For Jamie Walker Who Rangers Can Target

Although he still wants to sign on at Ibrox, Jamie Walker’s dream move to Rangers could finally be off, with the Edinburgh club digging their heels in and refusing to part with their crown jewel.

Despite the signing of Manchester City’s Aaron Nemane and the continued presence of Nik Kranjcar, it seems Rangers were still very keen for Walker to arrive and so they feel they do not yet have their first choice, experienced left-winger.

With that in mind, a further signing could still be on the cards and here are two alternatives the club could explore:

Vladimir Weiss (Al Gharafa)

Weiss had a particularly successful loan spell at Rangers back in 2010/11, scoring 5 league goals and winning the Scottish Premiership and the League Cup when borrowed from Manchester City.

For his part, Weiss has claimed he would walk back to Glasgow to play for Rangers again and that sort of commitment to the cause should not be underestimated.

He’s not short of quality either, netting 10 times in just 21 league games for Al Gharafa last term. As a much more rounded professional these days, it would be hard to conceive that Rangers would not be getting a better player than the one they saw seven years ago.

Yanic Wildschut (Norwich City)

Rangers have already made one successful raid on Carrow Road for Graham Dorrans, and another ambitious one to get the former Wigan Athletic man could prove to be very fruitful indeed.

The Dutchman only signed for the Canaries at the end of January following a brilliant first half of the Championship campaign in England with Wigan, scoring 4 times and putting in some outstanding displays in this sort of position.

The 25-year-old cost over £7million in the winter but has only gone on to make 12 league appearances for Norwich and could yet be made available for transfer, something Rangers would do well to pursue. He can only get better at this stage of his career and especially when playing every week, this division would give him even more licence than what he currently has.

Wildschut may cost a little bit more money than what Rangers might want to spend. However, his immense presence in the front three would also mean less reliance on Lee Wallace getting forward from left-back, something which has caused more problems this season, creating gaps at the back.
