Three Alternatives For Mateo Kovacic Who Tottenham Can Target

Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the most consistent sides in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons but they need some superstars in their lineup to help them take the next step in the upcoming campaign. They have been linked with a move for some of the finest players in world football and one player extensively linked with a move to the English capital is Croatian midfielder, Mateo Kovacic.

According to the Evening Standard, Kovacic could be put up for sale by Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer as they look to fund a move for French star Kylian Mbappe. Spurs are reportedly interested in his signature but he will not come for the cheap, which might be a problem for the English side. So Pochettino should have options up his sleeve if the deal goes south. Here are three such alternatives for the Croatian, who Spurs can look at.

Jean-Michael Seri (Nice)

One of the most wanted midfielders in world football at the moment, Seri was in astonishing form in Ligue1 for French outfit Nice, where his performances have attracted interests from England and Spain. He is 25 and has established himself at the highest level and can walk into most of the teams in Europe. Tottenham can have Seri act as a backup for Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama initially but he is sure to impress the manager and earn a place in the first team without much delay.

Rafinha (Barcelona)

Though not linked with a move to Spurs, Rafinha is a player who wants out of Barcelona and there is no shortage of teams who would love to sign him up this summer. His asking price is not high either and at just 24, he will get better than what he already is. Though he is more defensive minded than Kovacic, Pochettino will know that he is an able alternative for the Croatian if he does not move to England this summer.

Piotr Zielinski (Napoli)

Another star on the radar of a number of English clubs, Zielinski could be the right option for Pochettino for the next season. At just 23, he is destined for greatness in the near future and fellow English outfit Liverpool are desperate for his signature. He is another player who can walk into the first team for the Spurs next season and his addition is sure to improve the stability in the midfield for Pochettino’s side. Surely, he is an option worth exploring.
