Forget Mahrez – Here are 2 top-class wingers Leicester should target this summer including Stoke star

Riyad Mahrez

Two Wingers Who Leicester Can Target To Replace Riyad Mahrez

Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez saw a move to Manchester City in January get collapsed. The Foxes were adamant of keeping Mahrez and subsequently turned down a series of bids from champions Manchester City.

The Algerian doesn’t need an introduction as he was the chief creator of Leicester’s historic 2015/16 title triumph, assisting 11 times and netting 17 goals.

While Mahrez failed to hit the heights in the following campaign, this season he has been decent if not spectacular. He has performed well under manager Claude Puel and continues to be one of Leicester’s key figures.

Nevertheless, should the Algerian leave the East Midlands outfit in the summer, here are two wingers Leicester must target.

Hatem Ben Arfa

Last month, Hatem Ben Arfa confirmed that he will soon leave Paris Saint-Germain, via a message on his Instagram account.

The 31-year-old attacker has been out of favour at PSG under manager Unai Emery and was told to find a new club last summer. However, the former Newcastle and Hull City man rejected moves away from PSG last summer and in January.

However, his decision has not helped him. Since it is clear that he has no future at the Parc des Princes anymore, Leicester manager Claude Puel must go for the winger at the end of the season.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Shaqiri has been one of the very few players to perform at the highest order in an otherwise very poor Stoke City season. Stoke are primed for relegation and the Swiss international has not hidden his disappointment with the team’s struggles this season.

Given his talent, the nippy attacker doesn’t really deserve the punishment of playing in the Championship, especially after enjoying such an illustrious career that has previously seen him don the Bayern Munich and Inter Milan colours.

Despite failing to live up to the expectations at Stoke, there is no doubting the Switzerland international’s talent. With his pace, vision and trickery, he can be devastating on his day and can single-handedly win games for any side. In the summer transfer window, Leicester must make an audacious bid for Shaqiri regardless of Stoke’s status.
