Forget Ross Barkley – Here Are Two Quality Midfielders Sam Allardyce Could Sign For Everton

Ross Barkley of Everton

Two Players Sam Allardyce Could Bring To Everton To Replace Ross Barkley

Everton may end up losing Ross Barkley either next summer or in January and if that happens, they will need to have a replacement in hand.

They sold Romelu Lukaku over the summer without finding a quality replacement and that cost the club dearly. Even though Ronald Koeman spent big over the summer, the Toffees failed to secure a proven goal-scorer and they put up a slew of disappointing performances which eventually got the manager sacked.

They will not make the same mistake again and if Barkley were to leave, new manager Sam Allardyce is likely to seek out some alternatives.

The midfielder is recovering from an injury after almost moving to Chelsea over the summer. The player was aggressively linked with joining the Blues but the move fell through at the last minute.

In his absence, Gylfi Sigurdsson was supposed to be the man to take charge but his lacklustre displays have been disappointing. Hence, here are two options Allardyce could consider to bring in as his replacement.

Oguzhan Ozyakup – Besiktas

Having played for Arsenal before, Ozyakup does have prior Premier League experience. The midfielder has been key to a lot of Besiktas’ good fortunes. He is ideally a creative midfielder and has scored and set up several goals over his time at the club.

Ozyakup even won two successive league titles with the Turkish giants and can bring exactly what the Toffees are lacking. The Turk is adept at creating deep attacks and is quite fast and effective with the ball at his feet. Everton need a dynamic attacker in their midfield and Ozyakup is a viable option.

Jonathan Viera – Las Palmas

Viera is an effective dribbler and his attacking skills could seem interesting to Allardyce. The Spaniard’s passing accuracy remains unmatched and his through balls are excellent which enables him to dominate the middle of the park.

Moreover, the chance for him to move from Las Palmas to Everton is a massive opportunity and one that the player is likely to accept. The Spanish attacker is also strong at providing assists and setting up chances for his teammates.

Viera also chips in with a few goals, making him exactly what Everton need right now. That said, it is not like they are completely stripped of options in the middle. They do have quality but having a player like Viera with the present crop does seem enticing enough.
