Two Clubs Where Ross Barkley Can Revive His Career

The forgotten English midfielder was really close to a move to Chelsea on deadline day but for reasons unknown, the move was scuppered and Barkley remained at Everton. The 23-year-old midfielder made it quite clear in the summer that he intends to leave Everton and Tottenham are reportedly considering signing the youngster in the January transfer window.

But Mauricio Pochettino already has a packed midfield and signing Barkley would only see the player spend time on the bench than on the pitch. The 23-year-old has ambitions of playing for a big club and win trophies which lead to him being linked with several top Premier League clubs.

With the midfielder in the final year of his contract with Everton, let’s take a look at two clubs apart from Tottenham who Barkley can join and revive his faltering career.

Arsenal

Arsenal could be the perfect destination for Ross Barkley with Englishman looking for an established Premier League club. Arsene Wenger also had high praise for the youngster and was reportedly on his summer transfer list.

Barkley would certainly fit into Wenger’s team, with his creativity and passing ability well arranged to Wenger’s taste. The England international could take up the No. 10 role and replace Mesut Ozil at the club, who is also in the final year of his contract with the club.

The Gunners could also use some English talent in the side, with Wilshere constantly on the sidelines with injury. However, Barkley might only consider Arsenal if they qualify for the Champions League.

Manchester United

Let’s face it, Manchester United is a definite yes for any young footballer who wants to make it big and playing under a manager like Jose Mourinho only adds to the experience. But would Barkley be able to get into the starting XI? Certainly yes.

Barkley can definitely establish himself at Old Trafford if given a chance. Players like Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata might be ahead on the roster but it doesn’t mean he can’t give them any competition. Both players are approaching their 30’s especially Mata who hasn’t regularly featured under Mourinho.

Ross Barkley can get back to his old ways if he can be given a proper opportunity with the Red Devils. In recent times, young players have done massively well at the club, like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, who have been instrumental in many of the club’s wins in the last couple of seasons.
